Why would you sign in to a mod site?
fcivitellojr Jun 18, 2018 @ 10:16am
it said sign / join so i figured was only way to get them

I get most of my mods from either the Steam workshop or from the mods section of the SCS Forums. These are the 'safer' option since the mods on some of those 'mod sites' are NOT authorized by the mod author and could possibly be tampered with without the mod author's permission.

i got some from there but was signed in......what is scs

SCS are the makers of the game, they have an Official Forum...

Capt fuzzy how do you find a mod in scs all I see is discussions

Easy...click American Truck Simulator >> Mods. Then it's broken down. For maps, go into maps. For trucks and trailers, you go under Models, etc etc etc. Links to mods are normally in the first posting so you don't have to search through a 400 page thread.

Seems daunting but very easy to navigate.

This site doesn't have nothing but a bunch of stolen modes. Posting without the modelers permission... It's a Pirate site....

atsmods.lt is actually quite legit. There are some that get through but most mods there are uploaded by the original authors.

Now modsats on the other hand, that guy steals all the mods listed there. Might want to do some research next time.

I have seen a lot of mods at atsmods_it that in the read me say do not post on any other site. So that means the author did not give them permission to post it. So then it is a stolen mod on a pirate site...

Whatever...think what you want but atsmods.lt is one of the more legit sites besides the scs forums. Some creators will only upload mods to atmods.lt and every single mod creator includes that in their read me's.

Now tell me again how that means the mod is stolen?

I'm guessing any site besides the Steam Workshop and SCS forums is a pirate website. I got it now.

Now I can block so I don't have to see any more of your postings.

I know for a fact that Mantrid did not upload his maps. But yet there they are..

Technically, any mod that contains copyright/trademarked material without a license is piracy if distributed. Which accounts for 95% of mods at least that appear on those sites. By your logic, yes, they are pirate sites, but so is the Steam Workshop and SCS Forum.

End of, most players don't care where they get the mods. They don't care who uploaded them, who made them, how long it took, or anything. The only things they care about is how it looks and how easy it is to obtain.

As for ATSMods.lt, it's where most people go besides the SCS Forum and Workshop. Only the mod uploaders care if their mods are uploaded there. A large portion of mods I've found on ATSMods.lt are either uploaded by someone without permission or very low quality made by someone who does have permission.
