Do you need a steering wheel to play?
As in, those wheels you connect to your PC for racing games.

no u always can use that keyboard as in use for typing in for typing...and that mouse thing u have in the other hand when not using the better hand for doing stuff other than typing......or.....u might hop onto the bandwagon, go to the store, and buy a wheel..last option is best :steamhappy:

You can use your Keyboard, Steer with your Mouse, Use a Controller, or get a Gaming Wheel. I think I heard somewhere somebody even used a Flight Simulator joystick

Nope, a gamepad is highly recommended if you don't have access to a wheel. This can even be enjoyed on a dance mat.

Adding to the above comments, you can use pretty much any input method assuming you can bind it to keys and the game recognizes it. I've used a Guitar Hero III controller and people have used RC controllers as well.

I remember someone asking about how to modify a courtroom stenotype machine, since I guess that thing has foot pedals. But a wheel is best.

I use a keyboard (WASD to steer) and mouse for camera controls. It works fine for me but I'm sure a wheel would be optimal, but it's not required.

As any driving simulator, it is more authentic with a steering wheel, and ATS even has decent clutch simulation as well if you want to use manual H-shifter transmission, but you can do just fine with keyboard and automatic (alghough I prefer semi-automatic when playing using keyboard)

I agree. An Xbox 360 Controller is miles better than a keyboard, and is really cheap to buy, not to mention usable almost everywhere. I recommend getting one if you intend to spend even a short time playing ATS, ETS2, or any Racing Game. But you can still use a Keyboard.

You can use a wheel, keyboard+mouse,Controller I use a controller as I think it's better then using the keyboard.

A wheel is of course the best way to go but also the most costly.I know the 360/Xbox One controllers work for sure, and most likely most other brands will also.

I'm using a Steam controller with great success, and oddly enough despite being a primarily keyboard/mouse gamer, with this game I very much prefer the controller. On the highway I'll even use motion controls to make it act as a steering wheel, although with the tight turns in the cities I use the Steam Controller's stick.

I use an Xbox One controller, it works just dandy.

I use my old Microsoft Precision 2 Joystick with no probs. Many programmable buttons for horn, detach, blinkers, raise/lower, all views and throttle.
