Permanent Trailer Damage???
So I've been playing ATS pretty heavily in the last few weeks and I think I stumbled upon a glitch with my trailers. If they get damaged to say 10% and I go to a service station and fix it, the trailer damage will not reset to zero. It will go down a couple percent, but every time I damage the trailer it seems the " permanent" trailer damage will gradually go up, almost like permanent wear and tear. I was able to sell the trailer and buy a new one. to reset it to 0 but that requires having a garage nearby and is rather an expensive nuisance. Has anyone come across this issue? I have been hopping between modded single player and unmodded Truckers MP even though there's convoys now, but I'm wondering if anyone could offer some solutions. I'm kind of stuck here.

Never heard of such a thing, and I've been playing since the beginning in 2016. 🤔

It could be a mod conflict. Have you added any mods recently about the time the problem startred?

I have been adding and removing mods the whole time, as it was a night I went from MP to normal single player. But I believe that was the night I purchased the wheels and steering wheel DLC.

As far as I know you should never use the same profile for singleplayer and MP.

It might be worth noting that v1.43 changed the way that vehicle (truck and trailer) damage is tracked internally and thus it might be that TruckersMP has not caught up? Alternatively you've found a bug in that new code, although it would need recreating on a clean profile with no mods (and thus no TMP usage) in order to report it.

@pieperjohanns - That probably would have saved this from happening. I never thought of doing that as I have done so much in Single player I didn't want to start over in MP.

@The Pitts - I was wondering if that was the case and I tried downgrading the game to 1.37 to see if that would work, but with all the states it wouldn't even let me load the profile. I could try going back to MP and repairing to see if that would fix it if the damage code was changed and they haven't caught up to see if that would work. I know the mods kind of screw me in this, I just assumed that since they worked in the beginning, removing them would be fine, then just implement them back when I was done with the unmodded MP play.

If you want to load one of the previous game versions you would have to put one of your old backups from that version in the profiles folder, like for example moving the contents of "My Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\profiles(1.37.2.45s).bak" (or whatever yours is called) to "My Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\profiles".

If you are using Steam cloud saving the procedure will be similar, but your profiles folder will be somewhere in the "Steam" program folder.

Oh, boy. Getting into sorting through files, this is gonna be fun. I've aslo noticed that when the game notices changes, it no longer takes me back to my home garage, and dismisses the trailer, I think I royally goofed somewhere.

Important to note that this is only true for Singleplayer and TruckersMP. You can switch between Singleplayer and Convoy mode on the same profile with no issues.

For future reference, removing mods can also cause issues, so with the amount of changes you were making to the profile between singleplayer modded and TruckersMP is very likely to cause an issue at some point. You should keep separate profiles for the two modes. You can use a mod from the workshop, or a program like Cheat Engine, to give your second profile the money and Xp you want, in order to avoid leveling up a new profile.

Please explain further, this might just be the only way I can rid myself of the permanent damage and being able to have another profile that I can use specifically for MP would be amazing. I went all the way back to 1.34 and the issue was all the way back there and is definitely somewhere in my encrypted save files.

Just start a new profile (you can have several at once in the game) and add one of those "more money/XP" mods from the Workshop to that profile and do a few jobs. Check the mod description and comments to learn what it does and if it works with your version.
Remove the mod again when you have enough money/XP.

This is the simplest way. Using Cheat Engine will let you be far more specific, as you can set the exact amount of money and Xp you had in your old profile, however the program is much harder to use, and can break things if not done properly. I would look up a detailed tutorial online for how to use it, because I dont want to miss something important.

I'm at a complete loss. I tried creating a new vanilla profile and used the cheat engine to only change money and xp. I did everything I had to do to get a truck and trailer and then decided to crash the trailer and it still happened. I'm beyond at a loss. The problem is not in the profile or the save files for any of the profiles. It has to be within the game, and I have no idea where to look or even what to do next to figure this out. I think it's worth noting that I have validated the files and have been downgrading and upgrading the game version so even those files SHOULD be normal but I'm going to completely uninstall and reinstall and see if that help anything.

-edit- no such luck. I even tried using the cheat engine to try and locate the address of the trailer damage and got no where. I think I stumbled across something non repairable

-edit- Going to try and uninstall all DLC, mods, and even MP, reinstall, start a FRESH profile, and see if the problem persists. If it does I literally have no idea where to go from here..... A dev. would be a real help in this :/

-edit- Going full vanilla worked!! Although I had to make a fresh profile, the damage finally doesn't stay. The only difference from now and the last time was the cheat engine and the SCS DLC. I currently only have California, and the Pete 389, but I guess it's time to add the DLC and see what happens from there.

-edit- furthermore, I found that with the 53 foot trailer I was fine, SO I upgraded to a triple, and I had the problem once again. I downgraded to a double just for the hell of it and I STILL had the problem. I then went BACK to 53 ft and had no problems. bringing the damage all the way up to 33% and back down to 0% My question is what the double/single/triple could possibly have to do with the damage percentages changing when being fixed.... now to test on the main profile and see if there's a way to fix it.
