I guess California is good starting, and they work add on as time went by, with all those 3-D, looking real, and gameplay, it's lot of work, they can't get it done in reasonable time, so they want a better quality than old game, so was gamer/player do, but better quality cost more time and money, so they can't do all in once, so they plan to add dlc as time went by, I think it's might been 5 to 6 year now, and they hadn't got all done, and they did work before 6 year ago for american truck Simulator come out, I don't know how long they work on California and American Truck Simulator engine, so it's more than 6 year for them to work on this game.
American Truck Simulator Map DLC Clarifications [blog.scssoft.com]
In this blog it is posted:
It would be great to get the chance to reach the East Coast, it would be fabulous to be able to push north towards at least 60 degs latitude and south towards the Equatorial. But ultimately, it is up to you, our fans, if this happen - you will vote with your wallets. We expect to get the right guidance from you on future growth of our team to handle the new opportunities and challenges.
The general consensus will be once they reach the smaller states east of the Mississippi that we should start seeing state packs, or multiple states in one DLC.
We, the player base, vote on continuing development with our wallets. This simply means buying the official map expansions even though they are not a required purchase.
