Speed limited?
I have no idea what is going on, since the new update, I have a limiter on my speed. Sometimes can't go higher than 32 miles per hour or 62, varies on the save. I have disable the speed limiter in my profile and have it turned off in game. But it's like my truck is revs are going up but go any higher. I've tried a new profile and it's not working...

external contracts you are locked to 90km

No issue on my end. So I suspect that this is a mod issue.

but normal contracts i have no problems to speed up

Yeah it's weird, cause I created a new profile with no mods and it's the same issue as the one with mods. I tried euro truck simulator. I can disable the speed limiter and it works- can go any speed. But American truck I'm limited regardless if the speed limiter is disabled or not

Have you checked that it is not due to your input method? (E.g. shifting)

Yeah definitely. I'll see what I can do. So on ATS you can't really go above 65mph due to the normal contracts but on ETS2 you can?
ttower Dec 15, 2021 @ 7:42pm
There is not a mandatory speed limiter in ATS. There are three reasons you cannot go as fast as you want.
1. You have enabled the Speed Limiter in the gameplay settings.
2. You are hauling External Contracts or External Cargo (WOT Online Jobs)
3. Human error/setup mistakes

This is assuming that the game is functioning properly, which includes no mods, and assuming that Steam properly downloaded the recent update, which it has been failing at somewhat.

To make sure, try right clicking ATS in your Steam Library, go to Properties, Local Files, and Verify Integrity of Game Files. Then start a new profile, with no mods enabled. Once loaded into the fresh profile, make sure the speed limiter is disabled in settings, and make sure you are taking a Quick Job or Freight Market job. If the problem is still happening, then it is either a mistake by you or your controller.

ATS speed limiter is 65mph
ETS2 speed limiter is 90km/h
Both games enforce the speed limiter during External Contract jobs (ie World of Trucks), regardless of the menu setting. Convoys I believe are handled slightly differently

The only difference with Convoys is that the game host can check a box to enforce a speed limiter or not. That's really the only difference.

OK, so I understand there is a speed limit of 65 mph for doing external contracts. This is a WoT restriction. Why then, aside from the higher wages for contracts, would anyone do WoT? It is sort of a cheat to use WoT, the job wages per trip are unrealistically high, but then they restrict your speed to get that money.

Fine.

Well, 65 mph is not that bad of a speed limit really. I can deal with speed limit 65. Shorter trips are less noticeable, and if you do jobs in Ca, Or, and Wa, where speeds for trucks are lower anyway, then so what? Some of the secondary roads are harder to do more than 65 mph anyway due to the number of sharper curves more often.

The fact is, it is not a bug, it is a restriction, and THAT, I can deal with. I guess, if you still have issue with the speed limit, don't play the game, or make a mod that will allow you to overcome the restriction, or don't do WoT contracts.

You can not remove the active speed limiter when doing WoT contracts as it is hard coded into the game.

I really don't mind the WOT restriction myself. I just sim that I'm driving a company truck with a limiter. In ETS2 the restriction is 90 KPH, and most of the map the max truck speed is 80 KPH so I don't really notice (as I'm one to *mostly* follow the speed limits).

WoT limiting me to 65 on roads that are posted higher for truck speeds is annoying.
Madkine Dec 30, 2021 @ 9:18pm
Well then you have a choice, put up with it or don't do WOT contracts. They aren't going to change it.
TwinShadow Dec 30, 2021 @ 9:19pm
SCS's rules on WoT. Don't want the limit, don't do them.
