ps. More axles, transmissions with retarders will help stopping your truck , too.
Just hover over the "Heavy cargo" bar on the Truck analysis panel while you are upgrading your truck.
I did quick jobs until I unlocked the basic day cab, and bought a Pete 579 with a Cummins 450HP/1650Tq and drove it until I unlocked everything else. More torque helps, but 1650 is plenty for any job, and you really don't need more than a 6x4. I do have a Western Star 8x4 mid-lift, day cab, set-back front axle, 600HP/2050tq, 18-speed trans. that I use for heavy haul though.
If its an incredibly heavy load, yeah. You'll stall out on hills if you don't have enough torque to get up there.
