New player, what's the point of the other trailers?
So I'm new, I bought the only trailer available to me at level 1. The Drybed I think it's called? Later on when I unlocked the flatbed, grain hauler, chipbed and the one that looks like a gas truck but it hauls something else because I figured well, higher level = higher payout, right?

None of hte missions come close to payout I get just running fireworks or dyna with a drybed, what's the freaking pointof the other trailers? Legitimately confused.

they add more load types. when you can upgrade the dry van to the refrigerated one. it will give you the widest load avalibility

It's not all about the payouts, some prefer to drive tankers or log trucks etc.

If your only aim in the game is for the number in the top right hand corner of the route advisor to keep getting bigger then the best trailer in game is the one supplied by the company offering the cargo for shipment. Ownable trailers are for those that wish to roleplay or just to pimp their trailer.

Dang...that's...actually really unfortunate. I like progression in my games and I figured it'd make sense that owning your own trailer would increase amount of money earned but wow.
ya right seriously, seems super pointless

The different aspects of this game and the different combinations of those aspects are what keeps this game interesting even after 100s and 100s of hours into it.
You can borrow from the bank early, buy a couple of cheap base-model trucks, hire drivers and assign them to those trucks while you're doing some quick jobs n such. After a while you can afford more trucks and more drivers and this grows exponentially.

You can borrow from the bank, buy one truck and drive it yourself draggin' trailers all over, and never hire anyone or ever buy a second truck. Owner/driver.

..or you can purchase a trailer or several; place them in garages here and there and travel to them when you wanna haul that kind of load. Doubles, triples, livestock, low-loaders, etc.

All of these aspects and approaches are available, but not necessarily required. Depends on which way you wanna play. They've managed to make trucking interesting :)

Owning a truck will drastically increase your payoff but owning a trailer will barely do so. It's mostly a way to get bonus style points by having a matching truck + trailer combo that looks good, or if you're interested in hauling a certain type of cargo only. However it's locking out every other type of cargo, so if right now your goal is to earn money and XP as efficiently as possible, I would suggest you stick to a truck alone and take whatever delivery you're offered that pays best.

This is a simulator first and foremost, the game-style progression is very light. If you are playing to “max out” everything, you will be disappointed very quickly as it won’t take long. The enjoyment is intended to come from the driving experience itself.

To this end, owning trailers is about customising the experience to your liking (you may prefer hauling certain types of trailers, or to certain destinations, or maybe want a specific kind to practice with)
