None are "must have", although that should not discourage you from experimenting. As always it is a good idea to have a test profile to try mods on, no sense risking problems with your favorite profile(s) just on the chance that you will like an engine enough to take on the baggage that comes with it, you might not think much of an engine when you do try it.
EDIT some folks have had real heartaches with engines from Workshop, modders are under no obligation to maintain or even keep their mods available there or anywhere.
Is the Kreichbuams engines or engine sounds? I just remembered i have that from a while back. I am not in game now…so don’t know for sure.
Do you know if it’s been updated recently?

+1 best engine mod on the planet
In addition, you can easily add your own desired trucks to any engine mod.
