Try to take a look on Youtube there is a lot of video how you do it and what programs you need to make a skin in the game.
Just serch "how to male skins for American Truck Simulator" if you can't find it for ATS then try to serch for it for ETS2 it's works pretty must the same way.

youtube is your best bet, from not knowing a thing to produce my 1st simple skin only took about 30min. I searched "ats make skins" and it's all there. It's way too much work to explain by text but following videos that show you step by step, you'll have your 1st skin without knowing what's happening.

most important thing to procure is the paint or "UV" template for that truck.
Without that, you may as well wear a blindfold.

It basically works the same as any other truck, plus what room217 mentioned.
So for modded trucks you just take the right name for the truck from the def files.
for the Kenworth K100 (based on your nick) by overfloater it's "kenworth.k100e__of".

If you're using mods studio 2 you need the right xml file or something, i don't use mods studio.
alright i will try that file
