DirectX 11 Crashes when I start up ATS?
Whenever I have started up ATS before with DirectX11, or to test out the new update, I end up getting an error with suggestions.

1. "Make sure you meet the minimum requirements." Obviously I do, I have an AMD FX Eight Core processor and an Radeon R9 graphics card with 32 GB of RAM.

2. "The config file might have been corrupted." I know it's not, and I've deleted it in the ATS Document's folder and still no results.

3. "Try switching to OpenGL or DirectX." My card runs great with DirectX9, but the moment they switched it over to DirectX11 for the 1.36 beta, I get crashes unless I switch to OpenGL. I can't even run the game at the fullest settings at 1080p and 60 fps like I used to. It's too terribly laggy.

4. "Make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date." I have the latest version of AMD Radeon Settings that was just released a couple days ago, so the card's drivers are already up to date.

There was one other one that I can't remember. I even went into notepad and made changed the render device to DX11 and even in the Steam Launch Options. Honestly, I'm befuddled by what's going on. Anyone able to help me out? I'm not using any mods (despite them being in the mods folder, I never used them anyways).

Does 1.35 work in DX11?

1.36 is very recent open beta...issues are to be expected.

It doesn't. I tried 1.35 and DirectX11, same thing. Had to run it in DX9.

The strangest thing to note: The card is surely DX11 capable. It even says that the recent version it has is DX12. But I honestly don't get why this would happen.

Delete the config.cfg file and test again.

I could delete it a million times and it doesn't work with DX11. I've tried numerous times and still no results.

Edit: Here's what the document says: "ATS is having a problem and is unable to draw graphics on your computer (no valid graphics device was found). Suggested steps:

1. "Check that your computer and video card meet the minimum hardware requirements." It does, it can shred anything to pieces.

2. "Update your computer to the latest version of Microsoft's DirectX." It is, and most DirectX updates are with Windows Update, if I'm right (using Win10)

3. "Download and install the latest graphics drivers for your video card from your vendors' website - your graphics drivers are likely out of date." It's the most recent drivers, and it's only been released a couple days ago.

4. "Try changing the rendering method from OpenGL to DirectX or vice versa." This works with OpenGL, but it doesn't necessarily give me great frames/eye candy graphics.

5. "Delete the game configuration file "config.cfg" in your 'Documents' - 'American Truck Simulator' folder. It may have become corrupted." I know that it's not because everything looks fine.

"This file will be automatically re-created with valid default values on next game launch." Yes, but it still gives the corruption regardless if I delete it, and even uninstall and reinstall the game.

have you tried deleting all?
game
configs
saves

It sucks but that might solved it
Whats your GPU btw?
IanTheStanMan Oct 10, 2019 @ 7:08pm
There's no saves, configs or anything left except what is installed and what I need to run it. My GPU is an AMD Radeon R9 290, as I said earlier in the post.

Here is something to try. I would try doing a clean uninstall of the graphics card drivers using this program https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html and reinstalling them. That might fix something. Also try verifying the game files.

Have you tried copying the entire Documents/ATS folder somewhere else, deleting the original folder and starting the game?
I have AMD FX6300 6core CPU, 8Gb DDR4 and R9 280 on MSI m/b and I switched to v1.36ob effortlessly. Even all of my mods work.

I have exactly the same problem with two games ATS and ETS2, the description of the launch problem with directx11, even on version 1.35, my system: windows 7 64x, processor i7 4770 , graphics card NVIDIA gtx 1060 6gb , and 32 gb RAM

same ♥♥♥♥ :bbtcat:

I ran DDU and reinstalled the drivers by means of express. Maybe I should have done AMD's custom install instead? Because now it still shows the same error. Either it's a bug related to ATS on my computer, or something is wrong with the actual game itself when it tries to render.

try validating

The current ATS open beta build seems to have problem with DX11 on Windows 7.
