can't drive faster than 65 mph?
it does not matter which truck I use, with a trailer attached I can't get faster than exactly 65 mph even when 80 mph is the truck speed limit on some roads. I've had this issue for quite a while now and I don't understand where it's coming from. I also don't use any mods.

"Truck speed limiter" setting in the options is greyed out, but apparently disabled?!
Any advice?

Thanks for your reply! Since I only played external contracts that does make sense.
Is there any reason why that is the case? I just don't get how it makes sense if it is slower than some of the speed limits in the game

Personally I have no idea why, but that's how it is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That is to balance it out more. Same with not being able to teleport or load an earlier save when doing external contracts. And you also can not get towed without loosing the contract.

Besides many trucks in the US are locked to 65 mph by companies.

Isn't the 80 mph limit for cars only?

Not in Nevada and parts of Wyoming.

It makes no sense.

Makes perfect sense. It doesn't matter that you "own" your own truck. Some companies when you lease onto them require a speed governor. That is what the game is simulating. In addition these loads are generated by SCS computers. I totally understand why there is a speed governor. This part of the game actually mimics real life which leads to the following.

The very large and wide majority of trucks on the road today in the USA are speed limited to around 65mph.

Man, people are in a hurry these days. Besides you can't really enjoy the scenery going 100 mph :steammocking:

That's it right there though. I own the truck.

And the company you haul for sets the terms and conditions for the delivery. If you want to haul something and they require you to use a speed governor you can either not take it or take it and use the speed governor. And all WoT contracts require you to do that.

In real life I once hauled a load for Canadian Freightways, the Canadian version of Consolidated Freightways with my own truck, a Western Star at the time. It had no governor, they were very strict about the speed their trucks went, at the time 55 was a nationwide thing. The dispatcher was really anxious about getting the trailers to the ferry to Alaska from Prince Rupert BC on time. This was just a one shot deal for me, I wasn't leased to them or anything. I asked him how fast was I allowed to drive, he said, how fast does your truck go, I said as fast as you want! I did my thing. lol
