Loading docks at warehouses...
I would like to see just a tad more realism with the dock locations. I work for a certain (Brown) company, and we (along with every other dry van trucker) go to super warehouses with 70-100 loading docks per side. It would be accurate to, let's say, check in with a guard who will tell you, "Door 187." Then let us drive around the building looking for the assigned door.

IMHO, it would be a bit more realistic than having a highlighted outline on the map of where the trailer goes.

What do y'all think... Good idea or am I nitpicking?

edit your config or use console - uset g_show_game_elements "0" and go hunting for your doors ;)

cygnusx1. I would like more trucks driving around,
in loading bay's. From what i remember the only place
i went were there no truck's in my were building site's
that was because it was timed delivery's. If i got there early or
late. Yes there were other truck's before me.
Also more at ferry boarding point's.

Dear OP, you do know that the game is in a 1:20 scale outside of cities and 1:3 inside cities? So your 500 Metres of loading area would actually be 1.5 km.

As a driver who has had to move a ton of trailers over the years, I will say this is a great idea. Being able to back in a trailer with extremely limited space takes a lot of skill and patience.

Wolfgang, I don't believe that I specified a numerical acreage. I specified a greater number of loading docks. Some of the delivery points have 5-8 docks and the sim will highlight an outlined trailer for where to place the load. I don't care if it's only 50 doors. I'm talking about realism and difficulty. "Go to 43." Then drive and look at the numbers above the docks until you find 43. Just like in real life.

Even the rail-yards lack realism. I deliver to the North Bergen CSX rail-yard. I am assigned a track # and direction, either N or S. There are 4 tracks, 10, 9, 8 and 7. Last night, I was assigned 7 South where I dropped the trailer parallel to the track. There is no overhead cam or maps with highlighted outlines in real life.

And even at 50 doors you are at about 200 Metres (since you need space next to you and that times the amount of doors) which due to game scale is going to be 600 Metres.

What I'm saying is: A ton of doors are not possible due to map scale. There has to be sacrifices in order to not overrepresent something.
As for more of a challenge: Edit the following lone in the config.cfg file in your profile:
uset g_show_game_elements "1"
Change the "1" to "0" and save it. You can find the config.cfg of your profile either, if Steam cloud is disabled, in your ATS folder (which is in your documents) and there in the profiles folder. If you have Steam Cloud enabled you can find the config.cfg somewhere here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata

I get what you're saying, but you could fit a decent sized warehouse on the same lot as one of those huge gas stations with the repair shop and truck parking lots. Or the Walbert right next to the Home Store. Those 2 right next to each other is more than enough room for a decent warehouse. Also there are pretty big oil farm industries.

Cities have tons of "wasted" area. Stores, buildings and houses that serve no purposes besides aesthetics. Blocks surrounded by stone wall, fence and fixed gates. I would think the only limit would be the memory size of our hard drives.

Any way, it's just a suggestion that's all.
