Gearbox issues
So i've not long started playing and I'm having trouble with getting a full 18 speed gearbox. Im using a shifter and wheel to control everything, and have the transmission set to an Eaton 18 speed.

My problem is there are only 4 gears at my disposal. So instead of going through and being able to split the box from 1-8 i can only split into L or H. Am i missing something? Seems strange to go through the entire box and get to full speed in 4 changes.

Remember too that you have to have your shift pattern setting matched to the gearbox you have installed in the truck. For instance, if the truck has an 18-speed EF but your shift pattern is for a 13-speed, you'll lose the top 5 gears (and your lower gear will be weird ratios too)

1L 1H 2L 2H 3L 3H 4L 4H
that's 8
Range, then
5L 5H etc for the second 8

That doesnt make sense because you should technically be able to shift through from 1-8 and then split those gears into half gears. I say this from experience driving real trucks with full 18 Eatons in them.
I literally doing 4 changes and running through the whole box. After 4 changes i shouldnt even be doing more than roughly 15 MPH (20KPH). I say this from real life experience that after 4 gear changes in total i shouldn't be hitting the speed limit on a HWY

There are only four positions that the shifter can be in (discounting two crawler gears and two reverse gears). You have to change range after four. Throughout you can split. You never "shift through from 1-8".

Perhaps I misunderstand what you are saying.

If your not going through from at least 2-8 your going to do major damage to the gear box. I used to drive trucks for a living.

Your right about the shifter, but what im getting on this game is going through the first 4 on the pattern, but can't progress from 4th through to the remaining 4 in the gearbox.

This is the gear range im experiencing:
RL RH LL LH 1L 1H 2L 2H 3L 3H 4L 4H

I can't access the remaining gears in the box. Each time i use the splitter to go from bottom box to top box it will shift to N giving me no additional gears.

There is a Range toggle which must be bound to give you 5 to 8... sounds like you just have the spliter bound?

So both splitter and range are assigned but the splitter does not engage. Only the range spliter engages.
