Can't apply metallic paint

I've been trying to apply a metallic paint to my trucks, it never works out. I click custom metallic paint and the truck turns white no matter where I drag the color pointer. The reflection on part of the cab changes but that's it. Am I missing something? My searches seemed to only come up with results about an older mod and other issues.

Did you change all 3 colours on the metallic paint or just the first one?

Edit:
The first colour is the primary base colour.
The second colour is the gloss colour.
The third colour is the specular colour, seen on the sunny spots only.

Is it a paint job from a skin mod, or an SCS paint job and in the latter, which one?

SCS paint, as soon as I looked at the paint screen I saw what Reese was talking about. It's simple, I just missed it when messing with it.

Make the first color box your base paint, the second one darker than the first and the third a light color, not necessarily the base color for special effects.
