Question to Real USA Truckers: Side and hood mirrors?
My main question is about side mirror, the one on the passenger doors Are they actually usefull in US trucks? Can't really seem to adjust them enough to see anything of importance, i thought i use them for a blind spot in trucks that would actually benefit from it, but seems i can't adjust it enough for it to be of any use. What's your take on that? (EU trucks actually can benefit from them, so I'm only asking about the "long noses", especially the older designs, where that mirror sits deeper into the truck, as in for instance cascadia it is almost as out as in eu trucks).

As for the hood front mirrors, some use them, some don't what's your take on them? Personally, the less things are in front of me to distract me or obstruct my view, the beter. Unless a truck would have a really bad blindspot/s then i could see the hood mirrors actually useful.

IRL the mirror above the passenger door help with the blind spot beside the cab. The fender mirrors help with the blind spot beside the front wheel & down the side of the cab. In ATS, the passenger door mirror doesn't adjust enoy to see in the lane beside you properly

hood mirrors are for watching on ramps traffic and cars in blind spot. the above door is for people trying to get in / on step and for checking fuel cap and running close to a wall as in parking at the ports beside containers you have to be close.

Its more helpful in reality to not hit children, animals etc in that small blind spot.
in Germany we call the mirrors above the door "Rampenspiegel", because you mostly use them for tight moving along ramps... they sure help with other stuff too :)

Cool, thanks guys. I already bough side and front mirrors for all of my emloyes trucks, unless the front ones looked terrible (Talking about you, newer Peterbilt and Kenworth) lol. Then only a side mirror.

The one on the passenger door is a curb mirror, If adjusted properly it gives a better view of how close to the curb/side walk you are, as its a convex its wide angle is meant to keep you from rubbing a steer/losing your lugs
