thanks interesting how long has this been around and you run rta too dont you have you used this method is it only for beta or was available for previous versions too
I've had RTA trucks for at least 7 years now. All of them are sitting 1.40 ready and waiting for the public release of the game currently in beta.
I extract the files from RTA trucks and optimise them. eg. K200 v15.4 ships at around 380Mb, mine is roughly 97Mb. Big difference in performance on my machine.
The launch options I mentioned were given to us by SCS devs in an SCS Forums thread some 2 years or more ago.
They work with any game version and also both ATS and ETS2 exactly the same.
Even with those launch options in place, my game without RTA trucks even, still jumps and freezes at times especially when the game loads new map chunks.

K200 15.5 beta in ETS2, and it's glorious

Incidentally, this is with most gfx settings at medium.

Now I'm starting to get concerned because I'm running roughly medium (ish?) settings on my laptop, and I'm not getting a new computer because this one's only like 7 months old, so...

Should be interesting I suppose. I'll try out the beta later and see how it goes.

Just tried it and drove around for a few minutes (nothing fancy, just a bobtail W900) and it actually seems to run... about the same?

I'll wait for the full update of course but there's hope!

Well they need to update the min specs and recommended specs on their store page once 1.40 is official. The 1st thing I look at for game titles, is what year it was published. Generally my computer can run games released 2 years after my computer was built at me/high settings. So when you see ATS out in 2016 and ETS2 out in 2012, one doesn't expect to have a computer no older than say 2018 to run the game on medium settings.
100% agree with this.

Not at all. Try this:
Right-click on ATS game title in Steam Library, select Properties.

A lil window will appear.
Where it says Launch Options, paste this:

-mm_max_resource_size 66 -mm_max_tmp_buffers_size 726

If something already exists in that Launch Options box, make sure you leave a space after the last command before pasting the new information.

All it does is increase the size of the allowable resource (game models) from 22mb to 66mb and also increases the number of temporary loading buffers from 5 to 10, meaning the game loads twice as many things at once.
You should notice improvement in your game loading times and FPS with touching any settings.
hey mate does this trick work for ets2 aswell hows promods with this i wonder
Both games use the same game engine so the answer would be Yes.
Yep.
Some users reported not noticing any difference? But they're usually the ones with high-powered machines.

16 gig of ram
4 gig video card 1050 ti good card runs anything decentt even bus sim 18
Ok. With that setup, and the launch options I mentioned earlier, you should even be able to increase some of the graphics settings (SMAA and SSAO) but drive around for a bit with your usual profile and see what happens :)

Hmm. Promods.
Yeah should add some improvement.

I have the following as my launch options...

-64bit -nointro -unlimitedlog -mm_pool_size 8000 -mm_max_resource_size 32 -mm_max_tmp_buffers_size 1000

Definitions of the above
-mm_pool_size 4000 //Size of the general pool of resources memory area. Max. 1/2 of total memory.
-mm_max_resource_size 32 //Resource loading buffer size. Default = 22MB, max. 100MB.
-mm_max_tmp_buffers_size 1000 //Maximum temporary memory buffer area. Default = 112MB, max. 1000MB.

I have 32GB but only use the amount for 16GB for -mm_pool_size

And I used steps 1, 2, and 3 as described in the following link with the Nvidia Profile Inspector.
https://roextended.ro/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1000
then I did the first two changes to the config.cfg as described further down.
I get great AA now and looks fantastic.

I did create a mod that changed the LOD of grass and trees but it impacted the performance to much, great big FPS drops. So stopped using that.

My graphics card is an Nvidia 2070.
