You always have the option of rolling back to 1.39 however.
uset g_bloom "0"
This is not good! I have tried to disable bloom, but it is not enough. I have also tried Nvidia Profile Inspector and setting "OGL_DEEP_COLOR SCANOUT_DISABLE", but as the name suggests, that is probably OpenGL, so no joy.
As for reverting to 1.39? Well, we all know that sooner or later you will need to upgrade.
I tried to do a copuple of screenshots, so you could see how bad it is. Ufortunately, steam will only upload part of the image, probably because the image is too big (5760x1080).
But I am at a parking lot in Idaho. It'a morning, and when I look to my left towards the sun, everything becomes a white blur. There are some windmills which I can see looking forward, but looking left, I can barely discern them. And everything has this blue tinge.
For now, I'm going back to 1.39, but I really do hope that there might be a lasting solution to this.
Thanks again, BRGDS
Sven
There is no HDR in the game. If you don't have an HDR capable monitor you won't get HDR. This game has not had actual HDR, only something it called HDR. If you own and HDR monitor go back to 1.39 and try turning HDR off and on in the settings. Your monitor won't go into HDR mode.
So, you're saying that up until now there was no real HDR in the game? And now there is?
I've taken a closer look at my monitors (I have 3 in nVidia Surround). They are not HDR capable. Is this the cause of what I see?
Thanks in advance, BRGDS
Sven
lol you obviously don't know what you are talking about. Go look up "HDR lighting in games".
This has nothing to do with your display
What I'm saying is this game doesn't and didn't support HDR. It had an option that was "HDR" but at best it was an HDR like effect. I have an HDR capable monitor and when I play games that have true HDR support, No Man's Sky, Sea of Thieves, F1 2020 as examples, the monitor switches to HDR mode. True HDR content on an HDR monitor is impressive and you can't even experience it until you view it on an HDR capable screen.
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/List_of_games_that_support_high_dynamic_range_display_(HDR)
This is the modern definition of "HDR" in relation to gaming after the arrival of HDR output compatible TVs and monitors in the 2010s.
High Dynamic Range output or High Dynamic Range is a technology that first and foremost enables a screen to display an image at a much greater range of contrast. In practice this usually goes hand in hand with an increased color bit depth from standard 8-bits per color to 10-bits per color or more. In any case, both the software, graphics card (incl. driver), connection and display need to support this technology in order to actually be able to put a HDR image onto a HDR display. For games to fully make use of the expanded dynamic range available on a HDR display, HDR rendering needs to be taken advantage of in the render pipeline of the game, and afterwards the rendered HDR content needs to be output in a HDR display compatible range as well.
It is possible for games not rendering in HDR to "fake" supporting HDR output on a HDR display by rebalancing the brightness of the final SDR rendered image over to a higher dynamic range; meaning the game and final image output will not actually take full take advantage of the additional range available. Further on, as the HDR mode of most displays is designed around proper HDR content, this can also result in a somewhat degraded visual experience compared to using the SDR mode of the same display, which is designed around showing SDR content in the best possible way.
Windows 10 v1803 ("April Update") and later includes automatic brightness balancing of all standard dynamic range content on a HDR display when HDR mode is enabled in the operating system, effectively rebalancing their content against proper HDR content. This feature was added to prevent SDR content from looking dim (greyed/washed out) when displayed in HDR mode, as occurred in previous versions. The operating system allows the brightness for SDR content to be configured under Display settings > Windows HD colors > HDR/SDR brightness balance. Consequently, all games lacking proper HDR output and running in window mode (both regular and borderless) will automatically have their SDR brightness balanced to the higher dynamic range when HDR mode is enabled on a HDR display. Disable HDR mode in Windows 10 or run the games in exclusive fullscreen mode (with the fullscreen optimizations of Windows 10 disabled) to allow those games to output their SDR content in the SDR mode of the display.
Unfortunately, those answers doesn't really help me. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate that you take the time to answer me, but what I'm really trying to find out: Is there any way for me to continue enjoying this game?
Fact1: At some point in time (I don't remember when), SCS did SOMETHING to the lighting and called it HDR. It looked like ♥♥♥♥ on my system, but fortunately it could be turned off.
Fact2: Now, they've done SOMETHING again that makes it look like ♥♥♥♥ again, you may call it HDR or whatever - but I can't turn it off!
Fact3: HDR seems like a jungle. Some companies uses "HDR" even if it's not, but then some display makers call their displays HDR - even if they are not.
Big question: Will it help at all if I went and got a True HDR display? If the game is NOT actually HDR as AEnoch says, then that will probab NOT help. If so, well then - that's it for me. Too bad, both ATS and ETS2 are a long time favorites of mine, but I KNOW that the way the game looks now will prevent me from enjoying it as I used to.
Thanks, BRGDS

Don't give up on the game just yet. There's clearly something going on and we need to investigate and figure it out. It could be a windows setting or an nVidia setting causing it. It's not impacting everyone but "just blaming mods" isn't helpful.
i have lowered all settings and still so bad.
Oh, I'm not blaming mods - I don't have mods for ATS :)
But you're right - I can see several other having the same issues, so I guess I just have to wait and see. Thanks for your time!

Im sorry for bringing this old thread back, but im having about the same issues (if you can call them that). I can add to this that head lights are VERY strong at night, and i cant make out anything because of the strong white bloom.
