Rolling back the game.
O.K., the 1.40 version hasn't worked well for me. I rolled back the game to version 1.39 and it works fine. My question is, when I launch the game, it says "ATS, temporary_1_39". Does the temporary part mean this will only last awhile or can I use it as long as I want?

It will last as long as you are in it.

how do you roll back? I looked in properties but don't see where there is a roll back function? with new update I haven't any headlights and cruise control sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

Or until SCS delete the branch.

In properties, click on Betas, you'll probably see a drop down menu that says"none". Click that and scroll down to Temporary_1_39-1.39x for incompatible mods. Give it some time to download and you should be all set.

Which will problably take quite some time.

There is a "temporary" 1.29 branch so it's just devs naming branches incorrectly. It'll be around for a while.

No, that branch is really from version 1.29.

Not sure what you mean. I was talking about the "temporary" prefix.

Yes, that is the branch I mean. It means that is only temporary until SCS deletes this 1.29 branch. Nothing was named wrong.

1.39 will work fine. However, "External Contracts" will not work. They will always go to the current version.

it has several older versions of the game in betas. scroll down till u see the 1.39 version. 1.29 is top of the list. the list starts with the oldest version still in use and gets higher as u scroll down.

Depends on usage. Steam only allows a limited number of branches, and rather than delete the oldest first they delete it based on number of users generally.

This is why we have temp 1.0, 1.03, 1.06, and then a huge jump to 1.29 so the length of time a temporary branch lasts is purely down to how many people use it.

Personally I would only keep the last five and any important ones (like 1.35 as it was the last DX9 build) and delete them once they are more than 18 month old. I guess SCS are nicer than me.

I have to correct you there. There was a version jump for ATS as it never had versions from 1.7 to 1.27 as the updates are comparible (or even equal) to ETS2 and thus both games should run on the same main version. So after version 1.6 came version 1.28. The german wikipedia has a good overview of the main ATS versions: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Truck_Simulator#Versionsgeschichte
