Oh, and another thing. I'm getting a weird pattern on the bonnet when looking through the windscreen. But when I change camera angles and look from outside the bonnet looks perfect. Weird.
I know in real life light makes things brighter but the sun doesn't cause colors to seem washed out. My only option at this point is going back to 1.39.
Nighttime looks awesome but the daylight is meh to me.
If you drive I am sure that when you have been out on the highway in the middle of summer it is that bright, but most probably you were wearing sunglasses because it was so bright.
Now maybe that is something SCS needs to add, the option to put a pair of sunglasses on.
Night time I think the headlights look a little weak but most probably are correct just not what I was used to in the game when I could light up everything with the headlights.
Yes there is some tweaks that need to be made to lights when they are used in the daytime but overall I think it is very impressive.
Known bug with SSAO, I've turned that off until they fix it.
That's right. Before 1.40, I avoided using the headlights, unless I had no choice, i.e. it was pitch dark, for the very reason you mention.
I see see both the white washout and the bonnet pattern. Will try to disable SSAO, but for the whiteout, I think it is connected to the now removed HDR switch - in other words, you can't turn it off!
See my thread around HDR.

The problem with that saturated white color that burns your eyes is only in the cockpit view. Any other camera doesn't have that problem.
If when the whole exterior is burned with that white you change to a bumper camera, the problem disappears, for example.
A little frustrating, I only drive from the cockpit view (1700 hours driven this way so far) .
Hope they find a solution.

Look at the yellow on the truck and the yellow lines in the road.
Of course, there are glitches like the ones you demonstrate. I'm sure that sooner or later they will be corrected. Besides, that's why, I believe, SCS did not release at once the 1.40 for ETS2. Obviously, ATS 1.40 serves as an "extended" beta, before we can enjoy flawlessly ETS2 1.40 and the Iberia DLC. In any case, I for one, feel that the overall realism level of ATS has been significantly increased with the release of the 1.40 and I insist that in spite of the current glitches the increased brightness adds a lot to the realism.
ETS 1.40 just release today
"Invisible", if so, that's the one mistake I'm happy about. Thanks for the info!
