Well, update 1.40 did exactly that. As did update 1.38, 1.37 and 1.36 just to name a few.

SCS is updating their game engine constantly. DX12 is planned and will be another big update to the game engine.

problem is when filter can make the game look better than the reworking complete lightning system and still doesnt look good. they havent fixed their horrible anti aliasing since release of es2. draw distance sucks, textures are kinda meh. i want a next step to graphics.

Are you going to volunteer to answer all the questions and complaints a new GFX engine will bring? It's bad enough for incremental updates. What about all the players who would no longer be able to play, because they have out-dated hardware? Would everyone be prepared to PAY full price for a new GFX system, after all the previous improvements were released for FREE?:steamfacepalm:
The next GFX update will be free and SCS will continue to improve the game, they aren't doing it to please you personally, but the large number of players who enjoy playing ATS and ETS2.

I'll say they've been using it since hard truck. Although you could argue through the iterations, it is no longer the same thing anymore.

And Unreal Engine is in use since 1997. Still the same since then or is updating the engine actually making it different?

I think it makes it different, you change so much it does different things. It's changed in the last 20 years and it'll change again.

And so does Prism3D. It is not the same engine from back in 2012. And it will continue to change over time.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. It's engines in general.
