Gas Stations

Can some one tell me why there are gas station with no gas to fill up?
it doesn't make sense to have them then.

Not every gas station is designed to be used for trucks to fill up.

So these serve the purpose of immersion.

First off the trucks in ATS don't use gas but diesel. Also many gas stations that do have diesel are not designed to handle large semi trucks but small trucks.

as an irl truck driver i can assure you that we can only fill up at maybe 5% of all gas stations. it would be weird to be able to fill up at every gas stations in the game. many gas stations dont even have diesel.

I don't see how that can happen. Do you have a definite location/gas station so we can verify this is what is happening? It makes a change from all the "icon missing" posts.

When I first saw it some time ago, (Idaho DLC release) I mentally marked it down as a bug. Because I use mods, I am exempt from bug reports.
Reason I posted is, if you pull up to a gas station because you just happened to see it ahead of you, and you can't get fuel there for the truck (ie no green floating icon), then why would it have a map icon informing you of the availability of fuel?
If it doesn't have a fuel icon, why would you stop there anyway?
Maybe the op saw a 'fuel delivery' station, but that would have the company name wouldn't it?
I dunno. I'm leaning towards a map bug?

A screenshot including location would be nice. So far I haven't seen the problem you describe on my vanilla profile.

It was a Hearts station. I can't recall re-visiting since that initial time.
If it was a bug? Maybe it was fixed in a subsequent update. I don't know.
I can't recall ever seeing a gas station that didn't have a fuel icon?
I will take more notice and take a screen if I see it again.

Some gas stations have 2 fuel pump areas: one for diesel trucks and the other for civilian cars (which you cannot use). Some even have electric recharging "pumps", which we cannot use, but I hold out hope that SCS will implement them in the future when they give us such a truck.

I had taken this OP as a complaint that there were gas station prefabs which did not function as player fuel stops, like all the other prefabs added for environment that we can't use/visit. Not that there was a fuel icon on the map with no fuel stop icon in the prefab.
