In-dash Route Planner

Hi all, I'm new to ATS and enjoying it so far. Up til now I've been doing contracts and saved up enough for my first truck.

Call me a princes, but I really like the in-dash route planner. I play on a triple monitor setup and I hate craning my neck 90 degrees to look at the route planner that's in the bottom right of my right side monitor. Plus I like setting the normal one zoomed out and the dash one zoomed in. I digress...

I'm level 10 and shopping for trucks. Most of the trucks I have available to buy have a sizeable dash screen but no gps. There seems to be precious little in-game help, and I'm wondering whether the Dash GPS is locked behind a level-up, or is it truck model dependent? If a level-up, what level? I'd just hate to buy a truck that can't fit the dash when I only need to wait one more level to get one.

Is there a good wiki on uprades and truck features that I haven't found?

Also, I hear there is a Mod for a dash mounted gps butI'm not interested. I generally steer clear of mods and play vanilla.

Most of the trucks have in-dash GPS, some (if not most) of those will only be available in the more expensive interiors.

I don't recall exactly, but it's likely those interiors are at a higher level than you can access right now. In the main menu screen you will have a button on the bottom somewhere where you can access the truck browser. There you can choose any and all available vehicles and accessories. It will show you at what level each is available.

Don't be mad if I'm wrong but I think that the deluxe interiors (which give you the GPS) are not level dependent. Keep the Route Advisor apart in your head as although it has a map page it is not your GPS.

Don't know why you'd think anyone would be mad at you for being wrong, but either way you *are* wrong! :).

I had to double check in-game 'cos I wasn't sure myself but, yes, the more expensive interiors are indeed level locked - although some are available at level 10. It will depend on the truck. The Volvo for example, will have the GPS available right from the standard interior.

No worries there, you can always take the truck to a service shop at any time and upgrade the interior (or anything else you want). I can't think of any of the trucks that doesn't have an in-dash GPS at the highest grade of interior.
