how accurate is map? Can I drive to my IRL house?
My friend recommended this game to me. Trying to get an understanding how "realistic" it is.

Is there a lot of traffic at times, like real life?

Is it a 1:1 map of the states?

Once they make my state (which I understand the plan is to do 49), could I drive to my actual in real life house?

Do you face repurcussions for speeding, driving badly, crashing, etc?

Thank you.

It is a 1:20 scale, very rough approximation. No, you will not find your house in the game. Traffic is lighter than in real life. Repercussions for bad driving is optional in the settings.

You can watch a video(s) on you tube and see for yourself.
There's also a blog that will explain everything that SCS is doing.
Check it out!

No, it is not even close to real life. Outside cities the scale of the game is 1:20. Inside cities is 1:3. So much is left out.

Not really by default no, traffic does not increase a ton during rush hours.

You do get fined for speeding and for being in accidents. Getting in an accident, even if the ai vehicle is at fault will still result in a fine. The game does not determine fault. You are fined for being in an accident.

If you are not happy with the amount of traffic, you can use the console to adjust the amount of traffic on the road. I think the default is good for the game, but less than IRL.

This is not recommend for a new user to the game. Messing with the traffic value in the console will affect all traffic, including trains.

There are traffic mods in the Workshop that work to increase traffic but leave train spawn rates alone while increasing during your rush hour(peak traffic) times.

Depends on whether or not you are using mods and/or changed the value of the traffic in the config file. You can make it to be an entire traffic jam or to be light traffic or anything in between these two.

No. The map and time scale are 1:3 inside of cities and 1:20 outside of cities. This means there is a compromise between getting details into the map and leaving stuff out due to the scale.

No. Urban areas are not really fequented by the heavy trucks so they are either fully excluded or off limits.

For speeding and crashing yes, you are getting tickets. However the game doesn't decide on fault so you can get a ticket just for being involved (except if you are not moving at all then you aren't getting any ticket).

In case you want to get a good idea of the game there is a free demo on the Steam Store of the game which is a bit behind the full game.
