Buy a trailer with the sliding option. You will see this under the chassis configuration. As long as you are not loaded you can hit F7 to adjust tandems.
That is why I said not in the normal sense.
Without studying the engine their using, I'd say it's well below limitations. I wouldn't think it would be too hard to program legit sliding tandems. All the weight transfer stuff can be generalized (i.e. every load is evenly distributed inside the trailer instead of being potentially tongue or tail heavy), making programming the weight changes fairly simple based on where the tandems are located.... they should just be able to make a generic equation / physics model that basically just needs and x input to be complete (x being the cargo weight) and a simple animation and it would be complete and it would add BOATLOADS of immersion into the game, I mean, it can't be TOO HARD, they essentially have ALREADY done it with the F7 menu adjustment, why not just make a "real time" animation for it? Would make for legit use of non-DOT scales (say gas station ones), instead of having them just being a "let's check my weight".
It's not like they would have to make a million different version of program for the various trailers. IIRC "sliding" tandems are limited to 48 foot trailers?
The physics wouldn't be too difficult. It'd be making the different trailer configurations of tandem position as one unique system. I don't understand why SCS didn't just do it right in the first place instead of using tricks that totally break the immersion.
The 53ft dryvan and a couple others can have slidable tandems. I made a list in the past few months, I'll try to find it.
