You can master the trailer.
You can customise it to fit your beliefs.
It won't ever leave you alone.
Disadvantages:
Limited job options.
Limited pay options.
Not every city may have a load.
Neutral:
Money is arguable.
Either way you have to be able to maneuver any trailer.
More total job options
Pay is good or bad
Any city should have jobs. IRL there is no such thing a no jobs. They are out there but you look for them.
Best advice is to buy a trailer and see what jobs you can find, especially in cities where you have a garage.
I wouldn't say it's the most practical way to earn money in game but I don't really play to earn money I just play because i enjoy driving and if i need money i just cheat it in.
but to answer your question no I don't believe there is much advantage to owning a trailer.
well then i would suggest you sell all those trucks as the game is to make money and those trucks just sitting there is costing you money.
It seems useful that ownable lowboy trailers have been announced in both regular and articulated varieties, and anyone with the Heavy Haulin' DLC would most certainly want the latter since it not only means a wider profit margin for the Go Big or Go Home achievement, but also makes chasing the achievement easier.
Another advantage to being able to own lowboy trailers (once they're added to the game) is that it gives NPC drivers licensed to haul valuable cargo more opportunities. (To date, NPC drivers have only one option available to them for valuable cargo, and that's power generators.)
