Upgrading a truck used by a driver
If I want to upgrade a truck currently used by one of my drivers, how would I be able to swap trucks with her so that she can use mine while I take hers to the shop for the upgrade?

I think you can actually upgrade a hired drivers truck from garage manager - just click on the truck and it should be an option for upgrade it.

Thanks. I'll take a look next time I fire up the game. 👍

Yeah you don't have to take trucks to the shop to upgrade them. Unless it's the one you're currently driving.

The upgrades won't make any difference to the drivers and if you give them mod upgrades you'll likely be in trouble the next time SCS updates the game.

No worries there. I'm just doing unmodded paint jobs so all trucks have the same color scheme.

I hope you know that you can paint and modify one truck and it will appear in your fleet list. You can then assign as many copies of that standard truck as you want to your employees.

There is an option for that when you are buying a new truck in the shop.

Is there a reason there's such a disparity between drivers' profitability, then? I have two drivers in a single garage in Boise. The 2.5 level guy with the 400hp International LoneStar makes $363 daily profit, while the 2.5 level guy with the 605hp International LoneStar makes $1379 daily profit. What explains this discrepancy? And the first guy has a grain hopper trailer as well. Is that why he makes less?!

gwelty, when you check a drivers log book there is a number right at the beginning that is for the trip numbers or days when the end of week comes 1 driver got 5 days in while other driver is on the way home and not been paid yet. also if trucks don't make 1000 a day I demote them if they are in bottom 5 earners 3 weeks in a row they are fired and replaced.

Do you adhere to that firing policy because it makes the game more realistic for you (and therefore more satisfying) to demote drivers like that? Or is it really the case that some drivers are just designated by the algorithm as 'bad' drivers, and so they will *never* get better no matter how long they drive?

I'm trying to figure out if it's just a random number generator that fixes some drivers as bad drivers in exactly similar circumstances, or if they're bad because I'm missing something about cause and effect in the game, something I can control.

I am still learning, but I placed an articulated flatbed trailer in one garage. None of the 2 drivers used it ever. So I relocated the trailer to a different garage and the driver there used it and makes at least 3 times more than the other drivers. This driver that makes more is the newest driver. I only have 4 so far. Flat beds haul tractors and heavy equip that tends to be valuable. I select high value for training for that driver to get more of a boost.

Now the other garage didn't use a steak trailer or the flatbed ever. I am still new but I have a theory that each garage may have a type of specialty that is unseen but can maybe be found by trial and error. By relocating trailers and see which get used. My 1st garage will use reefers all the time.

The driver in Salmon Idaho has the flatbed and averages $6,700 a day. My reefer drives avg about 2,300 a day. MY highest driver rating is only 3.3 Just getting started really.

I fired 2 drivers already. One never did a single job, just rested for 4 days, lol

Redgreen, I think it has to do with the available jobs in the area that requires certain trailers. Your first garage location may not have the jobs available for your specific trailer that your second garage location did. Just my thoughts.

If my memory is not failing me, I seem to remember Mohegan13 at SCS Forums saying that if you fire a driver, you can't rehire him/her.
