International Lonestar & LT engine sounds
Clearly it's the same sound pack and engine, so why is one truck a lot quieter than the other? Sound volume inconsistency is something I've noticed on several trucks in these two SCS games.

This mod is a great replacement for the stock sounds of these 2 trucks (not my mod). And unlike the stock sounds, this one doesn't sound like a broken engine. :)

I agree that SCS's sound engineer is missing a lot of stuff. Kriechbaum is easily the master of sounds.

SCS should hire him to do the sounds.

I agree, he does great recordings. As I understand, other people (modders) take his recordings and turn them into usable mods. His recordings seem a lot more authentic than what SCS produces. The DAF XF is another great example, where the stock sounds are bad but his recordings are much better.

Maybe it has better sound proofing.
It is becoming more and more common now that trucks are only allowed to be up to a certain decibel level. This is for driver and the public safety.

I thought of that too, but as I recall the LT is quieter outside too. I'm pretty sure this is not a reflection of some reality but just sloppy sound volume management on the part of SCS.

Take into consideration the International LT and the International Lonestar are different models. The LT has exhaust either under the chassis or behind the sleeper. The Lonestar has the exhaust between the cab and sleeper out on the side. so the engine sound will be different.

Right, I wouldn't expect them to sound exactly the same. The exhaust notes could be a little different, because of the different exhaust piping. The engine from the front of the truck should sound the same though, if the two trucks have the same engine. But that's not what we hear in the game. Everything on the LT is just quieter, outside and inside.

I think what SCS has some trouble with is taking all the different sound samples they make (from the same truck) and mixing them together to reproduce what you'd hear in real life. I think a simpler method, such as just recording a single sample from the driver's position would give more accurate results. And then doing the same outside the truck for the outside sounds. That's what some modders seem to do and the sounds are more authentic.
