Is there any real world use for empty palletts being hauled.

I have been given a lot of palletts loads as of late. Is this true in the real world of is this just fantasy?

some companies (certainly in the UK) rent pallets out to companies. this means that companies that rent out pallets tend to take them to one depot filled and then take the empties back to the original depot

Often enough, pallets have one-way uses. Going the other way to be re-used, they'd be empty. As well palettes that are newly manufactured or are on their way to being recycled also ship empty.

Used Packagings and Empty Pallets are two loads that you will usually find after dropping off a load. Exception would be if you are at a Bitumen or HMS.

Empty pallets are indeed a thing. When I was doing dedicated freight for WalMart....I can't count the amount of backhauls that I did from stores to bring empty pallets back to the DC.

If you've ever seen the blue pallets, they're basically rentals and they're all accounted for. When a company, for example a large grocery chain receives their orders, the pallets are stacked in a corner, when there's a truck load they'll get them picked up and they go to the pallet dealer's warehouse where they get repaired and repainted as needed and then put back in circulation.

idk the english word for it, but on Euro pallets and Chep (the blue ones mentioned by trucker_71) pallets the customer receiving the goods on it pays like 50 euro or something and gets it refunded when the pallets are picked up again.
Also, if you're a thief you can make good profit from pallets :-)

And for example, the company i work for makes stuff for VW, Duvenbeck (the hauling company) does it the other way around for VW, brings us empty pallets from VW that we send back with the goods we make for VW, also picked up by Duvenbeck.

It'll never happen, pure fantasy. Plenty of trees they can cut down to make replacements.

In California in the produce business, pallets are a big deal. Truckers with a load on pallets going into Cal. will often sell the pallets when they're unloaded to an independent company that repairs them and then resells them for a profit to truckers that happen to need to bring their own pallets for a load they're picking up. Around L.A. at night you'll see people scouring the industrial areas looking for pallets laying around and then take them to one of those independent pallet repair company's and sell them, used to be about $2 each. Then truckers go there and buy the repaired ones for about $5 each. Prices are probably higher by now.

Pallets are recycled from store that receive their goods on them. They are usually sent back to place of origin. Unless one needs to be repaired or is trashed then they is sent to a place that make and repairs pallets. The user of the pallets have to buy them or rent them from a pallet place. Then the rented pallets will be replace or repaired or trashed as they need be.
Like Trucker_71 said, that is another way of pallet life.

Empty pallets are a huge deal. I know a lot of warehouses, groceries stores and many many other companies that are need of them and also for picking up as well. So yeas empty pallets are part of cargo in ATS. SCS nailed this one.

What drugs are you on?

When I saw this thread I thought the same thing people wrote above. Yes, they reuse and have rentals so of course they'd be shipped back empty. A lot of informative comments in here, I just thought your comment was funny lol... I def agree w/ you on that comment, but thanks 4 a good laugh!!!

I dont know about drugs, but keeping in trucking theme and topic there definitely seems to be a few pallets short of a load with that one
