Why do real life truckers play this game? Do you love trucking that much?
If there's a game simulating my job, I would play maybe for couple of hours, for curiosity, but that's it.

What job do you do?
AyMazingATS 2020 年 9 月 16 日 下午 4:42
I'm a former professional driver with the itch to still be on the road. As of right now that is not possible as I am taking care of an elderly parent.

This gives the feeling of doing a job that I loved.

It is in the blood. Once a trucker always a trucker. some still drive, some are retired, some got board and need to break the monotony of setting and waiting to load or unload. Beside driving in R/L you can not take out you frustration on the AI so play the game and whoop up on the stupid AI. It help keep one from running a muck in the neighborhood or on the road........

Do I like Trucking that much? Yeah, as much as I initially thought I would not like the OTR life style, I wound up not minding it. if only I was actually good at RL trucking and didnt get myself fired for side swiping things. I totally want to get back to trucking. This game, while not real life, has given me a good deal of practicing and a better understanding of the truck's maneuverability and how to back in and stuff.

I dont have a shifter, so I cant work on my actual problem, which was up and down shifting. I sucked at shifting so much that my attention was on the shifting and not paying attention to my trailer or where the truck was going and blap.....side swipe.

I'm not sure It would be relaxing if I was a trucker IRL. I have some anxiety issue and I just can't imagine myself driving those huge vehicles around. My car is fine enough xD

I was for almost 40 years Truckdriver in real life. Thanks to medical problems I had to retire. Like some reactions above, it will always itch in your blood. Most professions are normal, a priest has his Call from God, but we have a disease:steammocking::steamhappy: and ETS/ATS is a super medicin:steamhappy:

As others have said, some occupations like this get into your blood. Aviation is another example. I am ex-Railway and before, during and after my employment there I have found all sorts of rail-related sims (not just driving but signalling and route building) fascinating. In the industry some would even say the railway is a disease, and the enchantment lasts the rest of your life, with many retirees continuing to be railfans or volunteering on preserved railways and museums to get their “fix”.

Trucker here too. Been driving for twelve years, ever since I was 21.

This game is just amazing. I've been all over these roads, been to these stops. The Wallbert in St. George is a real Walmart, for instance. The main drag in Farmington is really that crappy looking. It's spectacular.

What I'm most excited for though, is the new sneak peaks for the Landmarks in Colorado.

I'm a Colorado resident, and I've lived here my whole life, and the last six years I've done nothing but local mountain driving. And I cannot IN WORDS describe how happy I am we get to hit the legendary 550.

In real life, the Million Dollar Highway between Durango and Montrose is one of the most dangerous roads in the world. I've been over it hundreds of times, in all weather and all times of day. And I am so excited to whip my twin-trailer Viper around those bends.

I do pilot work and work alongside truckers. I have come home after 2 solid days of driving and fired up ATS within minutes , . Its highly addicting. I grew up in trucks and respect the crap outta that job and will do it one day. A lot of people just love things with horsepower , iam one. Its a lifestyle that if your born around cant be shook, lol

Driving buses for 31 years. Now thinking about upping my license to a Class A. Covid has made a mess out of the bus industry. Except for the dumb cars, I find this simulator to be good oreintation into trucking. Working on getting my class A permit at this time.

For better or worse, it's a dying breed. This driving sim might soon enough be a "historical truck driving simulator."

GPS-based logistics and smart auto-drive systems will probably take over this industry in the next 5-10 years. Technology is going to make taxi and truck drivers obsolete very soon.
