Theoretically possible but not practical. Instead, consider to combine with another device as "button box". You can create "virtual button box" with tablet or big screen's smartphone. For example:

For physical button box, tou can DIY if knowing basic electronic background or probably order it somewhere somehow. Here some examples:

It's no more impractical than using a button box on a cell phone, how would you get the input from the phone to the game, have have it plugged in via usb or does the game have some synch function to mobile devices?

Yes it's possible, i use both, have my xbox one controller setup vertical next to my wheel, mainly use it for control of blinkers (one of the the two thumbsticks) and windows open/close, but of course you can do the button layout as you like :-)

Also use Simdashboard for some stuff. It works via Wi-Fi on the same network as you play your game on(doesn't need to be connected to the PC, just needs to be on the same network).
But for like Blinkers i prefer an actual switch over touching a screen.

Also, on my tablet Simdashboard sometimes "quits" so it's nice to have options, but my tablet is like way old :-) (Galaxy tab3), but simdashboard also works on my old Galaxy S4 phone, if you have another device you could for example use it just as a gps device with just the map on it ... soo many options :-)

Important note: setup one device at a time, when i was fiddling with setting up my wheel and XboxOne controller i tried to do them at the same time, that caused problems, so set up your wheel first, save the game, come back and add the xbox controller.

K thanks. Will try both. Got lots to setup this weekend, mount wheel and pedals to foldable stand, set up head tracking, then get things set up in games.

Will I need to do a lot of fiddling to get wheel working 1 to 1 in ATS? I got a Thrustmaster T150.

Setting up the T150 is easy.

The in game trucks all have a 900 degree wheel rotation animation. To set the wheel to match, hold the Mode button on the wheel base & use D pad (left or right) to decrease or increase the wheel rotation. The LED next to the mode button blinks four times when set to 900. There are five different rotation settings on the wheel, 1 to 5 blinks.

This will match the wheel to in game one.

As far as I'm aware there's no in game option to alter the actual steering wheel animation shown to match a different wheel rotation setting 1 to 1.

Ok cool thanks. Any suggestion on the percentage I should set the force feedback to?

Purely user preference, something that approximates a real life power steering system might be a good place to start, then adjust using the ingame sliders to your hearts's content. 100% in the TM software I'd assume.
