Is it Possible to Restore a Profile
Yesterday after the 1.29 update Truck Simulator CTD due to mods and then in an attempt to reverse the process I made the situation worse and completely obliterated everything. As a result I now have a clean install of ATS but my profile is gone and I have lost all my work. Is there a back stored anywhere that I can place into ATS or I am I starting from scratch again? :steamfacepalm:

Do you have a backup or restore point on your computer? If you do, the save file is probably there, and you can deactivate all the mods and then load the file onto a USB drive. When I got a new laptop, I just put the save file on a flash drive, and then put it on my new compiter in the clean install of ats, and boom im right back where i left off.

In your Documents Folder, you should have a folder named "American Truck Simulator" In that Folder, there should be a folder named something along the lines of "profiles(1.29.0.84s).bak" (Your number may be different) Now in that folder you will have another folder with a long number. That is your save folder for the version before you updated to 1.29 (if the backup safeguard worked properly) To use that new save, simply copy it back to "profiles" directory. hope this helps!

Thanks everyone for your help! Unfortunately I wasn't smart enough to keep a backup but luckily I have recuva on my computer and was able to restore almost everything that I lost. I am only set back about a month which is awesome! I can get back to trucking now :)

I would remove the mods before something irreversable happens. I always back my save file up on a dedicated flash drive on a regular basis, and I always run mod free workshop free. Never had a single issue with the game, aside a couple bugs here and there.

Thanks ubitmoosie. I have found ATS to be a very stable game and only on rare occassions with the update do I have some glitches with mods. I am going to refrain from using maps mods and use only Jazzy for the AI traffic. I am also going to regularly back up my prfile folder now to ensure that I can always do a recent restore if need be. Your help was greatly beneficial and appreciated to be sure!

OMG! THANK YOU! A BIG THANK YOU! You saved me Jenda and everyone else! OH! Yesterday ATS went wonky on me only to be followed by ETS. The controller. I use an X-Box controller and have logged in more than 300 hrs. on ATS alone, the wheel combo just wouldnt work for me. Had to delete the profiles on both ATS/ETS in hopes that starting anew would work. It did, but I was disheartened at having to have put some much time in both games to start over. Then today--it happened again! Me thinks it was the recent download of House Flipper. I need new distraction and that one works. That game uses the controller apparently and can affect the ATS/ETS controls! So, now I either unplug the controller, and/or use INPUT WIZARD and all seems well. The profiles were recovered! ATS was just fine, I had started a new ATS profile and was at lvl 25 when the controller mishap happened--level 25 in ETS. The profile were recovered leaving off right where the trouble began! Tremendously overjoyed! Thank You ALL!
