It depends on what you are going for. Because there are mods for trucks, graphics and sounds

various truck mods, specially xbs' ones (ats and ets2),

a no dead ends mod,

real company AI mod (jazzycat, sisl, have a look at the workshop or scs forum for more) don't use them anymore since i made my own, but for beginners and people that don't have time to make their own..

a range of map mods (wombat trucker on youtube may give you some ideas)

weather mods, personally like Kass' realistic rain and thunder, or what it's called, but there are more options for that too.

And not really a mod file per-se but number one is nvidia inspector graphics modifications from ETS fourums.

I'll second the NPI tweaks. It's a must have if you have a Nvidia card.

It's really hard for me to pick a top five. Here's what I would recommend in no particular order:

Essential
Minimal Adviser Interface (ptr1ck's Workshop) --to minimise that invasive info screen
Longer Yellow Lights (Ogg Vorbis's Workshop) --increases yellow light to about 4.5 seconds

Non-essential -but highly recommended
Combined Engines Pack (Robinicus's Workshop) --improved engine sounds at all RPM's
Immersive Icon Replacers (Stahl's Workshop) --this mod also removes all barriers
Real Advertisements (Sinagrit Baba's Workshop)
Advanced SCS Traffic (Bigyarus's Workshop)
Real Companies (Grimes)
Traffic Packs (Jazzycat)

So there you have it, its just up to you, with all respect to all above, except for the XBS trucks I do not use a single one mentioned nor do I imagine that I ever will, your game to have fun with, don't be too swayed by how others see their games :lunar2019smilingpig:

Thanks for that link, just spent a good 2-3 hours tweaking it but OMG how much better does it look.
