Truck Stalls When I Release Clutch In-Gear
When I try coming to a stop at traffic lights or stop signs, I always seem to stall. I know I have to hold the clutch in or shift to neutral when stationary, but this stall happens almost instantly?

Shouldn't there be some buffer for error? I see youtubers like Jeff Favignano and Squirrel do this perfectly and have some buffer before having the clutch in?

Any techniques or tips would be great. (I have just recently got a H-shifter, so I a very new to H-pattern, manual shifting like this)

As you are slowing down for the stop, put in first gear as you are moving just a bit. Come to the stop light moving very slowly. Then start to speed up when the light changes. Do this on a hill, or with a heavy load. It easier to KEEP it moving, then to START it moving, momentum.
Good luck driving.

Hello BugattiBreno. The engine stall issue is related to Clutch application per SCS. Fury6 has a mod called Engine Torque Fix. He spent a long time developing the mod and testing procedures.
Cat King of the hill name change to Cat 625 HP at the bottom of engine selection to purchase. Have not tested the other engines with his toque fix. If interested he also has a Eaton Transmission mod includes a lot of Eaton Transmissions. With the new shifter you purchased would recommend the Eaton 18 Speed (You choice may very) with retarder. Personally like the 4:56 Ratio mainly pull Heavy Haul Loads. These two mods do "Not" create log warnings and or errors.

You may want to try it out. IMO one of the best engine mods for ATS in re guards to Engine Horse Power and Torque. Fury6 keeps the mod up dated. Other engine mods as well very nice by Robiniscus and Zee.

Suggest you learn the RPM split between each gear. Example 250 RPM Split 18 speed. Feather the throttle and set the RPM to desired RPM. Slip the transmission in to gear.

Example: Down Shift point: 1750 RPM when pulling RPM will be around 1800 to 1825 RPM in the lower gear. If HH haul on steep grades 7% may need to skip a gear when down shifting. Higher Gear. 1900 RPM shift point drop to 1750 RPM. Slip into gear. do "Not" Jam the shifter into gear. For cruising on flat grades 1550 RPM. This depends on engine torque curves and Horse Power. Learn to control the throttle fether only. Do "Not" Mash the throttle use a very light foot or toes only. Long learning curve SCS and modders have implemented very well

(Edit) do not want to hold the brakes and increase throttle that sir is an incorrect procedure will result in a lot of damage. With the truck at idle empty or loaded should be able to ease off the clutch and not kill the engine. "Please" do not dump the clutch with the throttle mashed.

Have A Great Day.

@brownging1 yes, thanks, I understand the whole momentum inertia thing. So what you're saying is to actually not come to a complete stop, but just 'bumble' up to the lights travelling 1 mph or similar?

Cheers LarryA, will definitely try out the aforementioned mods that you suggested. Thanks for the tips as well! Will be sure to try these out!

Because I decided to start a new profile from scratch, i only have a 13 speed no retarder due to upgrade and money limitations. This is the profile i have been spending most of my ATS time in, however i do have a millionaire profile that i'll be sure to try out the different shifting methods with :)

OK if you want to start a new profile. There is a couple of mods you can use. Only select one. I used the XP & Money Cheat on a new profile. Named Test Profile for testing mods. Do not use one for the main profile. Be sure and remove the mod prior to purchasing equipment then un subscribe. There is another one have not tested. Called Profile Jumpstart.

Edit: Learned this from another post in the forums. Give them the credit.

XP Money Cheat.

1. Install mod "Do Not" Activate.
2. Pull one load with SCS tractor & Deliver.
3. Second load with SCS tractor. Activate mod with out other mods B 4 second load.
4. Load Delivery select the middle option "Only" for delivery type.
5. Deliver load. Ramp to I believe 35 skill level maybe more?
6. Remove mod from active list.
7. Un susbscribe to mod.
8. Re launch ATS prior to driving or purchasing any equipment.

Suggestion Elko Nevada has a Pete and KW dealership. Can always change your location to another shop after purchase.

Have A Great Day

You should never stall when coming to a stop. The mods LarryA mentions are excellent but really are meant to aid you when starting off from a stop. If you stall with your clutch fully depressed when coming to a stop I wonder if your clutch is fully disengaging. Something to consider at least.

Correct that is an aspect I did not consider. Have always had issues with the King Of The Hill Cat for SCS 389 Pete. Not stopping. The engine stalls on flat surface loaded or empty. 18 Speed 4:56 Ratio easing out on the clutch should not kill the engine. Edit: The clutch issue has been mentioned in the SCS forums if memory is correct.

Thank you sir for posting the comment.
