Skinning question for Paint,net users
So i had been doing skins for trailers, sometimes trucks using Paint.net and no issue till the program had a update that changed some of the formatting tools and the images show up dark or very bright white unless you get really close to the trailer.
Anyone know what format settings to use to get the skin to show properly? Unsure of the correct wording.

Originally i would use google or YouTube which was how i fixed the texture not being being pink and black checkers but with the newer adjustments and changes that were added have made the how too's outdated.

No, i don't have photoshop or other similar software have tried it and wasn't a fan.

Skin texture usually using DXT5 (with 8-bit alpha). Paint dot NET work fine with it but need a little bit effort to get alpha channel stored properly when you saving it. There's a Paint dot NET plugins to allow altering alpha mask separated from transparent layer. Go check for it in Paint dot NET forum.

As an alternative, you can use GIMP which in recent versions also support DDS texture format, and more convenient when altering alpha channel.
