Why those empty rear ends on US trucks?
I've always wondered why the painting and tuning on US trucks just stops in the middle of the vehicle. In the front you have all the paint, customized parts and lots of lights, but in the back there's literally nothing. No painted parts, no fenders, no tuning accessories, even the lights are small and probably not even visible at night or in bad weather. Those tractors must get rear-ended all the time.
What is the reason for these naked, boring and presumably dangerous rear ends? Is it forbidden to ride without a trailer in the US?

In real life guys that own their truck will dress them up a bit but the back end other than wheels generally doesn't have a lot of bling. The reason American trucks don't usually have fenders on the rear is because in the winter if you have to chain up, it's a pain in the butt and you'll likely beat them up if your chains get loose... waste of money.
Google image show trucks and you'll see lots of crap on the trucks.

if it was forbidden then you would not see any semi truck on the roads.

definetly not forbidden or dangerous. most trucks just have mudflaps on the rear end. thats just how its always been. and they definetly dont get rear ended all the time

The rear of a truck is not meant to be seen as the truck will be pulling a trailer 99% of the time it is on the road anyway.

They still have basic brake lights and turn signals just like any other vehicle for the other 1%, and it never seemed dangerous to me, it's basically the same lights as a standard car.

the back of a tractor has reflective tape in many areas on the cab. and a lot of o/o put clearance lights also , on the rear cross member of frame on the back of the cab light strips that are running on the tail lights system.
