Stop sign offence
I feel like this should be in the game.

It's not possible with the game code.

Why not? They said that double-trailers were not possible. Those are currently being added.

This game already has draconian enforcement system with too many police on the roads, speed cameras where they should not be, and red light cameras on every intersection. Add stop signs? I don't mind, but existing enforcement system should be twicked to be less effective. Rather, I would prefer addition of violation points and even temporary licence suspension (imaging not being able to drive while loan payments still need to be made)

Do you guys stop when there is a stop sign or do you ignore them?

I drive in game like I would in real life. So yes, I stop at stop signs.

Really where did they say this? They said back in 2011 that they were working on trying to implement them.

There is no way to create a system where by the game will know if you stopped at a stop sign. With traffic lights it works like an invisible laser beam, when the light shows red it is triggered when you move through it and the game then decides on whether to give a penalty. The trigger point is disabled when the lights turn red/amber or green.

With a stop sign there is no animation to bind the trigger to. So there is no way for the player to know where exactly to stop, how long to remain stationary and when it is safe to move.

Depends on the junction type. If it's visible in all directions I will do a California Stop. If it's not clear I will come to a fullstop.

Sometimes I ignore them in-game, which I regret doing again, even if I don't see any cars coming up.

But in real life, drivers will stop upon an upcoming stop sign.

Just treat like real life stop and go nothing complicated about it.

There is a way. Simplest way is to check truck's speed. Game can check truck's speed already, so some triggers are already in place. If truck stopped properly BEFORE stop line and not too far away from it, than it will have fairly low speed when crossing stop line because acceleration takes time. So, let say crossing stop line by the stop sign at any speed faster than 15MPH can be considered stop sign violation. Such algorithm would permit California roll as well, so it would be fairly relaxed system.

Not all the time... I've seen people blow through stop signs. And its not just the 'California roll' either. They slightly slow down, but not slow enough.

Though in my state, its illegal to roll through them anyway, but not like the cops care.

It has potential, although I would be tempted to say lower the speed limit to cover trucks without a trailer.

Knew people that were accused of running stop signs and local judges will know location will throw out the ticket for the reason there is no legal way to determine what is compete stop. Also, rolling stop at 5am is far different than not even yielding.

Really? What about vehicle being stationary, velocity = 0?
