There are few "cheats" which might help. If you have at least few hired drivers already, you can disable fatigue simulation and leave your game running overnight while parked on highway shoulder (fastest time). Then, even with disabled fatigue you can still rest. So, rest after every job, this will make game time run faster and bring $ from hired drivers sooner
Unless you have loans. Then it can take money. All quick travelling does is move you from A to B and move time forward. It's no different to sleeping. If your drivers earnings are not covering your debts, quick travel is only going to make things worse.
They make roughly the same amount as you for the same jobs at the appropriate skill level. But as the boss you have to pay them wages, cover the cost of damage to their vehicles and pay for their fuel.
So they may be taking a job that is worth £5000 but you're only seeing £2500 after deductions. Hiring drivers too soon can be problematic because if they return empty, you have to cover costs still, but they made no money so it's all outgoings and nothing to cover it.
Early on can be a bit of a grind but the only way to make good money is by earning more than any daily outgoings in regards to loads or expenses for fines. Only rest when it is ultimately necessary and try to cram in as many jobs as possible which have a good price per mile. Try not to invest too much early on in truck upgrades or waste money carelessly.
