making ownable reefer trailer worthwhile
currently the only reason to own a reefer trailer is "you like the look". Flatbeds as well have the same issue, but at the very least they have the upside of being cheaper than dry vans initially.

looking at cargo market, the highest paying insulated/reefer jobs are much lower in pay than the average dry load, empty pallets and used packaging aside.

The idea behind using a reefer is more variety of loads, as you can still haul all dry goods in it. You are accepting that some dryload that take more space or are heavier will not load as much in a reefer, therefore less pay on those when you haul dry goods out of somewhere.

the issue right now is, no temperature controlled loads pay well. the best paying jobs are all hazmat or fragile dry loads. meaning your best load out of a town will 75-80% of the time be a dry load, even with the lesser pay per mile of a reefer vs dry box. (sry shove those frozen goods up your behind, I'm getting paid 50% more to haul those tablewares out of town). As a matter of fact, they barely pay more than the lesser dry van loads of empty pallets most of the time.

hopefully scs will fix that sometimes in the future, but meanwhile is there an economy mod that fixes that?

Some city's at random times may only have TC or insulated required loads. As for flatbed trailer loads, some flatbed loads are ONLY available for flatbeds. If you only care about money you may not be playing the game correctly as you will be missing exploring some city's.

its not like you absolutely need a load to go grab that city that never pops.

Most flatbed loads are uniquely associated with them, safe a few that can now be loaded on the new log trailer (log jobs themselves are even more abysmal in pay tough).

Tbh, I never had a time where "no availaible loads" showed for dry box. Sometimes it was a crappy pallet load out, but still a load. I can only think of 2 city in current game where a reefer might get a "better" load, and those are Clifton and Grand Canyon village, as they only van shipments come from Tidbit, which have food and pallet load. And again, some food load such as fruit/vegetables and beverage are fine for dry box.
