How real is ATS
Hi gang.

For me, canadian resident, I would like to know how real is the landscape found along my route. You american residents, do you find the landscape really represent the real thing ? I'm sad San Fransico downtown is not represented , Los Angeles is very small but Portland gorgeous.

With a smaller map scale, does really the mountains are representative to the real thing or it's just a game ?

Andre.

Dude this game dont have 1:1 scale, so no they cant put in all streets in all citys. US is a big country so that is impossible with 1:20 scale, pluss the game is been working on by a european Company from Prague in Check Republick. So i think they are doing a great job, when you consider they are not from America. I think they have recrated US in a very good way lets just say it like that, this game simulates the life of a truckdriver. So you cant exit your truck and explore anyway, so its not needed too have the citys more detailed then its now.

I'm not from the US, but SCS make the look and feel of the US accurate in game. As the post above, ATS is NOT a 1:1 recreation, just a game in a 1:20 scale, that makes you feel familiar, that's it.

Okay, I understand. Main point of interest are well represented and feeling of real landscape is well done. I thought ATS was made in US then.

I used to live in Utah and Arizona with Nevada its off some in spots but scs can fix it with updates. Arizona is somewhat better as Flagstaff does have forest areas as your climbing in elevation and the high plateau near deserts near New Mexico border are spot on its the truck stop needs to be overhauled in Arizona.

Los Angeles is too clean its dirty and grindy in real life. Southern California is off too me Los Angeles sprawls into Inland Empire with more suburbs and industry. The newer states are better New Mexico is spot on and Oregon the same.

I'd say the map overall is at least 80% accurate to how it all is in real life, Oregon around 90%. The main difference is this is a utopian vision of the US where there is no litter, broken trees, degraded infrastructure or homelessness.

They do exceptionally well for a company out of the Czech Republic. I get more impressed with their work with every DLC.

IMO, they do a pretty good job of getting the feel as close as it can be with the map scaling limitations.

I know Vegas very well and have driven the area a lot; there are a lot of errors (placement of the Welcome to Vegas sign for example) but again, they don't have the ability to get every road just right and they do a pretty good job overall.

I'm really glad to hear that guys. Thank you so much for your feedback. For sure with a 1:20 scale, it can be 100% right but if the feel of the real thing is 80% good, that's a good score. I image if I would drive on these roads, I would have the feel of each state. For sure Oregon is really my favorite state for now. Some places in Oregon are extremely similar to what I see here in Quebec. Same kind of forests, same looking farm fields, rivers, lakes. It's pretty impressive the feel to be home.

a fello canuck here, just would like to say that weather or not shes accurate, it is enjoyable, no two roads are the same, although some of the cities early on did, they have done a good job updating that. Still waiting on Mack, Freightliner, and International to join the party on the truck side. and although Washington is getting released soon, I was hoping when i bought the game on release that by this point they would be at the great lakes. **in the last year they have really refined what they do have. Added more cities, fixed a lot of roads, things feel a lot more alive**

Visual is essential to me. Remember, I'm into ATS because of superb Forza Horizon 3 graphics, so I'm okay to stay into SCS areas. I really enjoy what I see. Congratulation for those making mods, they are very talented. But not for me on that kind of scenery mods. I'm also awaiting eagerly Washington state. That will be really amazing.

I've lived in the San Francisco area and Southern California (lived in Ventura County, worked in L.A.), and I've gotten the occasional twinge of nostalgia driving in those areas in ATS -- especially going over the Golden Gate Bridge or the Bay Bridge or driving along the Embarcardero. I actually bought a garage in that area and sold my starter garage in L.A. Last time I played ATS, I was choosing jobs that would take me from Nevada back to the SF area, where my first-ever trailer is waiting in my garage.

I visited LA along the beach yesterday. Beautiful. I like very much the fair on the boardwalk, it remembered me Atlantic City. The street with lot of palm trees is so nice. And today I just discovered the road going to Show Slow. WOW, what a nice scenery. Me I'm a train and plane lover, so I really like to see very nice trains in the game. So realistic.
