If it's lifted, yes. Otherwise, that's just more wheels you're dragging along the ground. For maximum maneuverability, you want a truck that doesn't have a lot of axles and is very short.

Yes. You'll have to have it down due to the weight.

If you purchase flatbed, reefer or dry box with a spread axel the front axel should have a air lift for tight corners. Prevents the tires on the front axel from being damaged. Why a lot of companies do not use spread axels.

Spread axel must have a 8 ft spread in order to comply with bridge laws very from state to state.
80,000 GVW. (Gross Vehicle Weight).
Providing you have enough bridge. Length from the front steer axel to Rear Drive axel and Center of the rear tandems to the (Trailer King Pin) to the rear trailer axel.
1. Single axel 20,000 Lbs
2. Tandem axel 34,000 lbs some states such as Colorado 36,000 LBs.
3. Spread axel = 20,000 per axel = 40,000 Lbs Better weight distribution.
4. Majority of states allows 80,000 Lbs GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight).
5. Colorado 80,000 GVW on interstae. State Highways 96,000 GVW.
6. California does not recognize 3rd axel if the third axel is not a 8 ft spread axel.
7. Utah can purchase a permit for 36,0000 per tandem GVW 80,000 Lbs. Utah with out permit is
34,000 Per Tandem.
9. Maximum Overall length is 65 Ft after deregulation.
Prior to Deregulation
10. 14 western states 65 ft except for California 60 ft.
15. Midwest and eastern states was 55 ft.
16. Prior to deregulation GVW 73,280 After 80,000 GVW.,

Hope this helps.

If you're pulling super heavy loads (Not the oversize load DLC), you have to have additional axles. Yes, not using it allows better fuel economy and better turning, but if you're pulling the big boy loads, firstly, the game won't allow you to keep the lift kit raised, the game will force you to automatically keep it lowered, and in reality, 2 axles wouldnt make it down the road - if you're pulling those 50,000lb loads. If you're avoiding heavy duty loads (sticking with 40,000 and below) then just buy the 2 axle flatbed.

Also, you can buy a 4axle flat bed where the back axle is steerable.
