Escort vehicles in ATS Special Transport
Since my KW - 900 is based in Phoenix Arizona, twice I have picked up Special Transports from the freight center (Phoenix Airport cargo) to Sierra Vista. Much to my surprise, it is the police cruiser SUV that takes up the lead position, instead of the striped "follow me" truck. But a regular striped escort truck takes the rear position. Everything works fine until we get to the Tucson exit. At that time the lead police cruiser indicates an upcoming lane change, but then stops. When I check behind, I can see the following escort vehicle caught in traffic which has managed to get between my truck and him. Everything stops, and if I do nothing at all, I will run out of time and be penalized. My truck has beacons, so I turn them and my hazard flashers on and pull out, and finish the job alone. I do get paid and everything else is normal. But when I do Special Transport in ETS2, the escort vehicles stay with me from start to finish. Is the Special Transport in ATS set up to operate differently, (where the escort vehicles only go part of the way), or am I seeing some sort of traffic bug?

No, the rear escort is supposed to change lane first then the front escort, then you. Sometimes you have to wait a bit for the rear escort. Make sure you are over enough for traffic to get by.

The escorts take you all the way. When the one in front stops and doesnt move, try to move your cargo to the right so it is not blocking the lane so any traffic in front of the rear escort can pass.

The front escort is waiting for that traffic before pulling over.

I had this happen too.

No that does happen in ETS2 also, have had it happen several times you end up having to move over so that the cars stuck in between can move on through then the escort vehicals will continue as normal. Just dont get in front of lead car since for it to move on you have to be behind it. The real thing that is strange is the fact that you can finish the job. In ETS2 soon as you get to far in front you violate the rules and the job is over.

Try Saving your game and then reloading it. (Should get rid of the traffic)

^ This. Every now and then the AI will be abnormally stupid. Twice(*) now I've had AI traffic come to a stop and then refuse to move again.

Save and then load removes the offending traffic and you're underway again.

(*) Once a car decided they wouldn't go through an intersection; after two light cycles I reloaded. Second time two trucks collided when merging onto the highway in front of us and then decided they'd just sit there not moving preventing my lead escort from continuing. Again, reloaded and moved on. ;)

escort seems dumber in ats than ets2. Hope there's tweaks/bug fix incomming

I don't have any mods. But it doe strike me as strange that I get the Police SUV as the lead escort instead of the "wide load" truck. I'll try it again, since I'm based in Phoenix, and the airport cargo generates Special Transports. Thanks again to all for your assistance

Just did the big long load to Tuscon did have to be extra careful on the curves. Big long load always ends up in other lane or truck does with on coming traffic. That was minor compaed to coming into town!! good thing for saves swung out to make the corner then get a msg saying escort crashed due to improper driving hmmm.........ok reload keep it a bit tighter but of course there are cars lined up at the lights cant make the corner due to traffic lights after fiddling and having the same prob over and over lol. Ended up pushing a couple cars out of the way so I could make the corner. Still was fun but this would not happen in RL escorts move up to let traffic through or they stop everyone farther back so truck can make the corner.

The car in front of you is ALWAYS police.

Yeah, I'm sick of the front escort vehicle brake checking me. Next one that does it I'm just gonna run over the top of it and push it off the road !!!

anyone having an issues with being to far from rear escort? i even shut off ai traffic and makes no difference.
also the front escort is always brake checking me.
i have no problems in ets2 with this
