Road Block on my route?
Okay this is weird....This is the first time I've encountered this, but I'm making a short trip from Sacramento to Medford Oregon and as I start my journey heading North towards Redding, I see a police car with a road block they are blocking me from going North. The only off-ramp is heading towards San Franciso, which obvously isn't in my path.... at that point I'm just sitting on the Freeway in front of the road block and San Francisco Exit and don't know what to do?

Keep in mind, I'm new to this game :)

Do I just suppose to plow through the road-block and run over the cop and barriers? lol... I didn't think that was this kind of game...

Usually there's enough room to get past the road block, or, you could just move the slider in game play settings for detours all the way to the left so that you never get anymore detours.

These things happen.
You can Save and then Reload and it should be gone. Same goes for endless cars blocking you from exiting an off-ramp.

okay thanks Trucker and JDaremo

uggg I tried to save and reload from a few miles back and the cop car and barrier are still there :( I guess I just have to pick a different route. I even turned the detour bar all the way to the left and it's still there. It doesn't say "detour" just doesn't let me go North on 99....I tried to take the San Francisco off ramp and that just takes me further and further away, so I don't think that's it.... Maybe a bug?

When enabled, detours are generated along your route when you take the job. They aren't a part of the AI traffic, so turning detours off while on that job won't make them go away; the setting will take effect on the next job taken.

Thanks Ryu. That's got to be what it is...I'll change the job then....What's annoying is that doesn't tell me what detour route I need to take, it just has the off-ramp to San-Franciso

That's why we have a map with user selectable way-points to change the route.

Yes, the point of the detour is for you to figure out your own alternate route. In this case you could either head towards San Francisco, then turn towards San Rafael and then head north via Eureka, or you could go east to Reno, then take US395 back towards Redding.

You can select way-points on your map as =ADSTA= recommends above, or you can just check your map frequently to keep from getting lost if you prefer to play that way.

I did what rubber duck would have done and blasted through the barrier - got 1% damage but no find and all of sudden all the other traffic was back on the same road too :cozybrawlhalla2:

I would say 90% of the detours have a couple inches on each side of the truck to slow right down and squeak by, almost always on the right side of the road. I have that bar set to around 30% chance along with running Daniel's Random Events MOD which adds some road work, damaged vehicles and emergency vehicles. I am using the 1.47 version in 1.48 without issue.

I would like to add, since you are new to ATS, that the GPS cannot be looked at like a game element. What I mean is, you can't have the attitude of "Well, the game is telling me to go there, so that must be the right way to go."

All the GPS does is give you the shortest route, which may not always be the BEST route.

It doesn't matter if your hauling 8,000 lbs of TVs in a short Dry Van, or a 180,000 pound piece of equipment on a triple-articulated Low Boy, the GPS will give you the same route, which can be an issue if the shortest route is through the Million Dollar Highway in the Colorado Rockies.

Always look at that route for a job, and don't hesitate to make changes if you feel it necessary for a less stressful journey.
