a tip - How to get out of traffic jams
I just did the mobile home delivery from Phoenix to Seirra Vista and all was going well until I get to the first intersection at Sierra Vista and a line of cars in front of me and my escort simply refuses to go through the green light - and they sit there and they sit there and they sit there.

and then I remembered how to get out of ridiculous apparently programmed traffic jams:
Press <escape>. exit the game. restart the game and resume driving.

SCS relies too heavily on overly aggressive and overly cantankerous AI traffic imo but if you get caught in traffic that just sits there...get rid of them with a restart. works wonders.

Had to do that a couple of times. I think that ATS traffic is heavier than ETS2

A faster method than restart is use the dev console and turn the traffic off and then on like a light switch. It will clear the traffic for a short time and you can carry on. The command is g_traffic 0
Change the zero to 1 to turn it back on. Whole thing takes about 15 seconds and you don't have to leave the driver's seat.
If you don't know how to activate the dev console, do a search on Youtube. ;-)

A simple quick save and then load that save will take less time than setting up the developer's console or exiting the game.

Cool. thanks for the tips. I have no experience with the developers console but Ill try that save and reload thing. I thought I was helping.

You were, I just suggested a faster way in that you don't even have to leave the game. ;-)

You can set quick save under any key and Quick load too

I am not sure if you are running any mods but I have been trying them one by one. It seems at some point most of them get so busy at times that I can't get out of gas stations or truck stops. When running the modless I almost never find myself stuck.

Ohh, I had cars stop at an intersection when I hauled one of these huge special transports. The stupid cars refused to budge so I had to resort the quick save/quick load thing. I already had to reload the game before the traffic jam because of the front pilot vehicle refusing to budge.

If the jam isn't too long, you can just push people out of your way. If you go slow, there is no fine or damage.
