American Truck Simulator
Place in game to train for CDL maneuvers?
Is there a place where I can practice backing maneuvers in cones and whatnot to pass a CDL school test? Alley dock, parallel park, backing skills are some of the things I need to practice and the trucks at school are pieces of ♥♥♥♥

There is not.

You can use any of the companies once you are able to buy your own trailer at level 5.
This is a game, it will make you no more proficient at backing up than a flight sim will get you ready for a pilot's license.
I drove truck for 45 years, to back up, steer your trailer tires, forget about the box, it'll throw you off.
yer but some places on hard parking the truck and trailer dont fit
As stated above no places in game, neither RL interpolation.

The game you describe is Scania Truck Drive Simulator, quite old, but have all you describe. And is cheap.

Guess it will neither be what you are looking for, but can give it a shot.
There is actually two different older games that do incorporate truck and trailer training. Scania Truck driving Simulator mentioned above and Trucks and Trailers.

SCS have made some suggestion that they would like to bring a modern and up to date version into ETS 2 and ATS, but there is no mention if this might even happen in 2019 or later.

Forget it. Driving in a video game is not going to help you much for learning to drive a real truck. You can get the most basic concepts, like which way to turn the wheel to get the tractor to go the direction you want, but that is about all you are going to get out of it. Nothing in the video game world is going to give you the feel of driving a real truck since you don't have the motion, the feel, or most importantly for me, a real depth for judging distances. To me the game is a bit "off" in that regard and feels a little weird compared to driving a real road tractor and trailer.

When you're a new driver, sometimes it can be helpful to see an overhead or bird's eye view of your truck and trailer to understand how your inputs actually affect the trailer, which may not be as obvious when you're in the cab. Of course, you've been doing it for 45 years, so you're clearly better than everyone and don't need help visualizing. But try to understand the rest of us plebs for a moment, and realize that we're not all perfect specimens of manhood like yourself.
That was definitely worth the three year necro to say.

That necro is HUMONGOUS. Nice use of the search bar I reckon but look at dates of threads before bumping old threads up from the grave.

With do respect sir you are "Wrong". Flight simulators have been used since WWl. Microsoft FSX has been and still is used today along with Prepar 3D. Used for proper Navigation, For VFR & IFR Procedures. Tower communications, Approaches, Nav systems for IFR. Commercial air lines and Military use flight sims as well. Just a few examples how flight sims are used IRL. General Pilots License, Multi Engine Ratings, Instruments & Commercial. .

Here is a few locations. This is not the complete list.
USA_KDEN, KDFW, KLAX, KORD, KMIA International OMDB, EDDF, VHHH.

Based on RL 47+ years as a Independent. Can ATS be used for training to back up. "Yes it can be. Examples.

1. Set up the system for backing up. Left side mirrors_right side mirror Blind Side.
2. Angles, Degrees to turn the sterring wheel, Learn trailer and tractor tracking
3. Fine adjustments.
4. Inside camera view only..

1. Always give yourself plenty of room.
2. Back in using the Left Mirror try to avoid backing in on the blind side (Right Mirror).
3. If using a spotter to help. Its always best to have the spotter stand in front of the cab about 10 feet in front. That way he can take a few steps and see both sides of the system. Its easier for you to keep an eye on him as well. The spotter will not be in a blind spot in the mirrors.
4. If in question always always step out of the truck and have a look.
5. Always take it easy when backing. Let the truck idle.
6. Never bump a dock to hard (Light Tap). Can damage the transmission, drive lines and U Joints.
7. Please always remember Safety First. Truck hands are the Profesionals. General public well thats a different attitude. Always be willing to lend them a helping hand..
Edit 8. DOT Fed and State, First responders give them the respect they deserve. You will find yourself in situations need there support and or the public. Examples first on accidents.

Have A Great Day

Good locations where to learn to back up a system. One you do not need cones etc.

Truck stops. learn to back up straight line first. Then try various angels. Once that is accomplished try locations example Eddies:

Recommend you start out with a KW W900 or a Peterbilt 389. Want a long wheel base. Trailers suggest you start with a 45 ft. try 48, ft and 53 ft.

Why the long lengths. Help you to learn how to manage space and clearances. Then short wheel base trucks and short trailers is a lot easier. The articulation is quicker you will need to adjust the articulation. Another learning curve.

Look at the pavement where you are backing into. There is tire marks and have the rear of the trailer follow the tire marks. Do "Not" chase the trailer. Make fine adjustments with the steering wheel to adjust the trailer angle. In other words setting up the system to back into a spot is very important. Manage the space and obstacles. Be care full of obstacles and do "Not" bump the obstacles.

Edit: Please remember you should never "Stop" learning how to run a semi truck. The day you stop learning is the day to quit as a professional truck hand.

Have A Great Day
