58 from Barstow to Bakersfield closed?

Hey guys & gals.

I'm kinda new to this game and the road desginated "58" from Barstow to Bakersfield is closed, like police cars with flashes and everything. What's going on, would it clear up or should I go around from Los Angeles?

Sounds like one of the new "Detours" has appeared for you. :) You will need to find your own way around this temporary road closure.

There is a slider in Options, as well, to control how often you would like them to appear in-game. Similar to Roadside Events.

I just had a similar incident. My GPS said to take the exit, but there was a service truck and overturned trailer in the ramp. I checked GPS and it said ot go, so I made my way around it.

If your GPS says to go that way, you could manouver around. If it is totally blocked, you might have to find another route.

I completed about 20 contracts since 'Detours' introduction (both beta and stable version) and yet to see one. Frankly, I hope I will never see them

They won't occur when hauling External Contract loads.

I like the detours: they force you to come up with challenging work-arounds. Now that I have got every achievement in ATS finished, and own every garage, any challenge is welcome. I have events and detours both set to maximum.

It happened during my 3rd contract :)

This could change in the future, but SCS said that they do not spawn when you take WoTr loads.

I just did, I think, my first non-WoT contract since 1.33 and had a detour pop up. Fortunately I was able to just "ramp it" (get off the highway and then right back on, it was right at an exit) to bypass the closure.

Detours can be be driven through if ya want to just so ya know, everyone I have hit so far the right side edge of the road is open so you can get passed whatever is blocking you.
