Illegal trailer usage fine
I'm just driving where the GPS is telling me and BAM, fine. What the hell.

It's just an easter egg, only one in all of ATS.

Yosemite. Commerical trucking is not allowed through there, even if the GPS routes you that way. It was added as a scenic route.

The max fine that I've gotten is $1000. Not a breaker to not go through there.

What did we learn that day?
Never fully rely on the satnav, read signs and use common sense :steammocking:
And don't take your truck for a ride through a national park (Yosemite)
Just kidding, but it's true ;)

They added it because so many players wanted a scenic route through that area.

And you are (supposed to be) smarter than your route advisor. Thank yourself for blindly following it. :)

Real GPS's do this from time to time too, truck dedicated GPS's units do it less often, but it still happens from time to time even when the best units.

The responsibility for being on a legal route always falls on the driver.

When the reporter says that the driver was taken to the hospital 'as a precaution' I'm sure that loosely translates to 'be given a drug test.'

The driver portion of the industry doesn't exactly attract a lot of MENSA members...

My understanding is it was an unplanned route. If I recall the story right, they gave it as an excercise on a new technique, or job interview test to someone. It was never meant to be in, but result was so good they had to implement it.

The in game GPS really isnt a trucking gos tough. It will bring you on a low bridge if you come in from Washington with overheight loads (which arent indicated specifically as overheight, so its mostly a "when in doubt, suppose you are too high" thing) on the I-5 south and follow it, and will give you that route if its the shortest.

Still a lot less sketchy than the majority of the people working in dealerships.

It was planned. But after making the new route it was pointed out to them that commercial trucking isn't allowed IRL. It was actually removed in closed testing at one point, but they decided to keep it because of the beautiful route and leave it up to the player to drive through it or not.

I just took that route. And after reloading a save there is not sign that commercial trucking is illegal on that route. So thanks for the no warning.
There are other issues of the same kind. Road signs not corresponding to what the game registers like speed limits and turning right to the red lights.
It is very anoying if you are trying to do a perfect delivery.

On the topic of blindly following gps, people have actually died by doing that. People have gotten routed through death valley because it is technically shorter for example. Then when you are there, it is such a remote location that the map tends to be outdated or just incorrect so the gps will give wrong directions a lot.

The solution is to get a bigger truck.

Eventually, you will find a Truck So Large, no one will dare fine you for your tires are as big as their house.
