Where exactly are save games located?
Everywhere I look says it is (not exact name) Documents/ATS/profiles, but that is an empty folder. My game is saving and everything but the actual files do not seem to exist. I tried turning off SteamCloud saving in the games properties, but that didn't fix it either. I do have some files from profiles.bak folders but they are not the current ones I am looking for.

Open cheatengine.

In the top left corner, there is a box with a computer in it, and a colorful border around it. Click that and then double click ATS in the box that opens (make sure ATS is running).

Put your current balance into the Value: box.

Click first scan (depending on the balance, you could have thousands of results. Don't worry about those), then go back into the game.

Next, either take a short job, take out a loan, get a fine, etc. Anything that changes your balance in-game.

After your balance is different, enter the new value into the same box as before, then click Next scan.

You should now only have one (or a few) results.
If you have more than one: Click any result in the list, and hit Ctrl + A. This should highlight every result in the list. Click the red arrow next to the result list. Click the checkmark beside any result and hit Ctrl + A again, then hit enter. Type in whatever value you want in the new box, then hit enter again.

If you have just one: Just click the result, hit Ctrl + E, then type in whatever value you want and hit enter.

You can now close cheat engine, and go back to ATS. Your balance will update after you switch screens (ie, if you're on the main menu just open the map, or bank, etc).

If it's a local profile, it will be in Documents/ATS/profiles
If it's a steam cloud profile, it will be in Documents/ATS/steam_profiles

Profiles folder is empty.
Steam Profiles has a XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX folder with config, controls.sii and gearbox_layout_eaton_XX.sii (3 different ones)

There it is then.

which one specifically? controls.sii, gearbox_layout_eaton_10 13 or 18 sii? sorry I don't know what I am doing.

You're looking for the save itself, correct? That's the random string of characters in your steam_profiles folder. That entire random string of character folder is your save(each character has a folder).

yeah, I am trying to take an editor to give me a small amount of money I lost when I deleted my old save due to a bad mod. None of those files in the 4d467XXXXXXXXXX folder seem to be what I am looking for.

Unlike say Farming Simulator, you can't just edit your money. How much money do you need to make up and how many drivers do you have?

There are save game editors for the game that seem to have worked at some time. I had less than 100k but I don't have a lot of time that I can play and would rather not re-do a couple hours worth of playtime to get back where I was. All the mods seem to add a lot of money, I don't want to have cheaty amounts though.

That's why I asked. One way to deal with being "gifted" too much cash would be to buy a garage and if necessary a truck or two and then just not put drivers in the trucks...

You could also use the more reliable method: Cheat Engine.

I can't seem to figure it out. I loaded it up but can't seem to do anything with the table.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thank you so much, I had been using old cheat tables and they didn't seem to be working. This worked perfect!

Just so everyone knows, if your profile is Steam Cloud synced/linked, then the saves are stored in Steam\userdata\(user number)\270880\remote\profiles\(profile id).
