I was initially using an XBox controller when running the game prior to these issues.
I can get to the first visit to my garage screen (where my rig is on display and there are options for settings and the like on radio buttons across the bottom). If I select "Drive" I can start my engine, but I have no control over speed or steering inputs. '
When I leave the main screen and return to the options selection screen, my mouse is no longer in my control. I have to Ctrl, Alt, Del to exit the game.
Just to add: This occurs because whenever you attach a controller to the game a little box pops up with the option of using the controller as a mouse. This happens before you reach the game Launchpad. If you select that option it then makes that controller the mouse and you lose control of your mouse. You must select "Ignore" whenever that pop up occurs.
Now I just have to recalibrate all the axes
Do you have other controllers or devices attached that you aren't using for this game? I remember once someone had an audio mixer plugged in and one of the control knobs on it was being seen by the game and causing havoc.
Yes, I had a throttle for MSFS sitting behind my PC that was connected, it was causing the issue. So as far as nothing else being connected I was wrong. As far as "Can't believe this is still an issue." I am still in that mindset. Lesser games have figured out how to let you choose a controller without having to fully disconnecting peripherals used for other applications or games to regain control of your mouse pointer. I think it would be simple for a developer make their game to default to KB and Mouse until the player manually chooses which controller to use in settings. Why do I need to reconfigure my setup just to swap to a different game? Too much to ask I know! Anyway, thanks for taking the time to troubleshoot for me and I'm sorry for wasting your time. I edited my original post to reflect how I feel now after figuring out I was just an ignorant gamer.
