My mouse pointer is uncontrollable...
I've searched for topics on this and have come up empty--or, I'm not entering the right words in my search.

Anyway, I've been away from the garme for several months and upon returning, the mouse is uncontrollable--it drifts off to the upper right of the screen and no amount of dragging it back will stop it from moving up and to the right again.

I have tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling it several times--all to no avail. I have also disabled all mods...

Any other suggestions???

Go to Options - Controls and scroll down the bottom. You will see Alternate mouse cursor controller, under that is Controller selection, select Reset.

Just to add: This occurs because whenever you attach a controller to the game a little box pops up with the option of using the controller as a mouse. This happens before you reach the game Launchpad. If you select that option it then makes that controller the mouse and you lose control of your mouse. You must select "Ignore" whenever that pop up occurs.

Have you tried unplugging the mouse and plugging it back in? Have not seen this with ATS but have with other games in the past that seemed to lock up the mouse when they initialize.

It happened to me two days ago. What I did was use CTRL-ALT-DEL to open the Task Manager and then I closed (end task) the game. Although the mouse kept crawling up the screen within the game, it was ok to use once I was in the task manager. All was fine after re-starting ATS.

I tried your suggestions and looked for other tips, but not joy...

I was initially using an XBox controller when running the game prior to these issues.

I can get to the first visit to my garage screen (where my rig is on display and there are options for settings and the like on radio buttons across the bottom). If I select "Drive" I can start my engine, but I have no control over speed or steering inputs. '

When I leave the main screen and return to the options selection screen, my mouse is no longer in my control. I have to Ctrl, Alt, Del to exit the game.

Thank you, Willy.J.K!!

Now I just have to recalibrate all the axes

My solution to this was to unplug the gamepad controller I was not using. I don't know why this error began happening, but since I use a wheel, I can just unplug the usb controller and the mouse began to work correctly again.

Do you have other controllers or devices attached that you aren't using for this game? I remember once someone had an audio mixer plugged in and one of the control knobs on it was being seen by the game and causing havoc.

Can't believe this is still an issue.

NO, there are no good suggestions that work. Can't believe this is still an issue. No working solutions. Cannot get to options when the cursor is hijacked and no wheel or gamepad is connected.
I can not reproduce that on my end. Are you sure you have nothing else connected to your PC?

Yes, I had a throttle for MSFS sitting behind my PC that was connected, it was causing the issue. So as far as nothing else being connected I was wrong. As far as "Can't believe this is still an issue." I am still in that mindset. Lesser games have figured out how to let you choose a controller without having to fully disconnecting peripherals used for other applications or games to regain control of your mouse pointer. I think it would be simple for a developer make their game to default to KB and Mouse until the player manually chooses which controller to use in settings. Why do I need to reconfigure my setup just to swap to a different game? Too much to ask I know! Anyway, thanks for taking the time to troubleshoot for me and I'm sorry for wasting your time. I edited my original post to reflect how I feel now after figuring out I was just an ignorant gamer.

My mouse pointer keeps getting stuck in the middle of screen before american truck simulator even starts and it only happens on this game

Did you try the same solution that was suggested six years ago? That's usually the culprit.
