As the question goes in the heading, does the AI respond to indicators, horns, beacons and so on?

Turn signals yes, emergency flashers dramaticly yes, horns and flashed high beams no.
TW Dec 20, 2018 @ 12:29pm
No they don't. They use to before 1.30 but not any more. They use to move over or slow down to let you on the free way but not any more. They use to observe turn signals so you could make a wide turn. But not any more. The ai sucks diry poo water now... They flat do not even see you like they use to...

I agree with TW.
TUrn indicators used to cause the AI to give way when entering freeway's and such or making
lane changes (UsuallY anyway). I noticed as of late (I think as of patch 1.30 or one after)
they no longer do so.
Bug, no idea.

AI never respected emergency flashers, strobes and still don't.

They use to stay way back when the flashers were on. But not now. Its like they are blind.....

I use emergency flashers every day to make traffic give way.

The Al is much more sophisticated than most drivers are aware. By the time you drive a couple hundred thousand miles you'll realize that their moves are not random. Some of the trucks are out there for one purpose, to screw up your route. To block you, to make you speed, to make you miss a turnoff, to cause an accident.

That innocent looking Cement Mixer Truck that's passing you is actually on his way to team up with another truck that's ahead of you. Together they will slow and run side by side to block your passage. That's only one of a dozen or more traps they do.

You'll learn them and figure out ways to defeat or avoid them.

The AI trucks like to trap me behind them while they're going at half the speed limit and don't get me started on bends and hills. Slow buggers in trucks. The cement truck is indeed a pestilence.

I also experience trucks sitting and blocking both lanes on a motorway while they slowly :steambored: like snails pace slow motion overtake each other. The AI trucks have also become quite reckless. I was approaching an intersection and a truck just pulled out screwing the traffic laws in the process.
I also met a bunch of cars stopping up to make a trap for and made me drop my speed to a crawling 2 km/h, then suddenly they just zoom off as nothing happened while laughing their heads off! Very annoying to say the least. :steamfacepalm:

Happened in ETS2.

The AI is well programed to aggrevate and frustrate you. There are not a lot of challenges in ATS ot ETS2 beyond following the GPS, watching your speed, sometimes stopping for red lights etc
the AI is the only 'enemy' in the game and I'm darn glad that "they" are there :steamhappy:

Which makes me specify, I just asked a question about AI behavior. Mind you I have not many hours in ETS2 or ATS and can therefore not judge myself. The important part for me is to be aware of that indicators, horns, beacons and so on or not just bling bling stuff but actually have effect.

AI really really respects emergency flashers, try it. Turn signals not so much, but a bit. Horns not at all.

To mention it, flashing your headlights they do respond, by flashing their headlights. Not always, but it happens. It's one of my favourite pasttimes when driving at night in ATS/ETS2.

maybe its just me but it seems as you level up the ai gets more aggressive and starts ignoring your signals some will even bait you into thinking they are going to let you merge then they run into you
Rogue Dec 20, 2018 @ 11:53pm
Glad to know others have noticed the Al behavior. Beginning to think I was getting peranoid. :)
ZOMBIECRUNCH Dec 21, 2018 @ 12:18am
I just ram them off the road if the merge in front of me when I am trying to slow down.

The AI is dumber than an amoeba... Indicate all you want, and pull out several hundred feet in front of them and watch them stand on the brakes mere feet from the rear of you or just -usually- run into the back of you. Best assign other keys to your indicators and make use of those buttons. Test this; go to a junction and DON'T indicate and wait -as your going to turn (left/right) acorss the other lane/traffic. The AI will just mind-reading stop. bearing in mind you could be a)sleeping at the wheel b) Just waiting to carry on in your own time c)broken down d)just playing the AI game with no indicators and watching it play out regardless...
Using indicators in the game are just subliminal, nothing more. Just adds to our immersion and of course fun. Like putting hazards on when in a yard/depot
