Escort Car Stops on Highway

I've had this happen several times now. The escort car comes to a complete stop on the open highway. Usually I crash right into it and need to go back to a checkpoint. This time, though, I got smart and went on the shoulder to avoid it... but after I passed the escort, it stayed stopped. It didn't come forward. I failed the mission because I got too far ahead. It took me back to the checkpoint... and I was still in front of the escort car. I tried to back up and got the trailer jack knifed. I tried to turn around and got stuck on the side of the road. I can't call for assistance. I can't load another checkpoint. Am I just out the $15k here because I didn't crash my truck? :( Sad day.

This happened to me yesterday, escort just stopped dead in the highway for no apparent reason. The rear escort was behind me, there was plenty of room for other vehicles to pass me (they were).

AI in the oversize needs some work, primarily on the highways. The other traffic slowing down on the highway when they approach the entrance ramps that are blocked for our passage (when we're already on the highway, not the ones where the highway is stopped for us to enter). I've also had escorts hitting the brakes on uphills on twisty 2-lanes. Do these guys understand how a heavy load needs MOMENTUM?

I've had this happen to me many times in ETS2 and ATS. It usually happens when merging lanes and there is traffic passing either my truck and the load or is beside the rear escort. If I see it happening I can sometimes move over to the right enough for the cars to pass on by and the lead escort will merge and get moving, but if there is an exit ramp near the entrance ramp and they have a common lane it seems everything grinds to a halt since the passing vehicle can't merge over and won't pass. I also get it near some entrance ramps with police cars blocking the ramp, as it seems that makes all traffic want to slow down excessively, sometimes to a complete stop which then sets off the problems with the escort.

The only fix I have found for any of it is to do a Quick Save and then reload the save which will reset all the traffic and allow me to move on. I had doped they had fixed this problem when the special transport DLC came out for ATS, but it has the same bugs as ETS2. I have tested it on "clean" profiles with the same issues and I have a friend who has never used any mods and it has happened to him as well. It's definitely an SCS issue with their dubious AI programming.

YES!!! I realize the game really, really, really WANTS/NEEDS you to follow the proper course, but it feels almost like they want me to fail by making things overly exact.

i just fast travel ahead of the escort an proceed on my merry way by myself..im tired of the front escort stoppinbg for no reason then never move again until i restart the trip...

that happen to me once wen i got to close to escort car but keeping distance 15-20 meters is best never had any issue

Change your graphic settings. This forces other cars/trucks to respawn, clearing the traffic. Then change your settings back and voila. This trick also works if you are about to smash into the back of an AI. Poof! They're gone!

Just had this happen; if you’re experiencing the same thing then what you want to do is press escape go to save n load, and load up a previous auto save (there’s a little box to click that shows auto saves) that will load up from your previous auto save (hopefully not too far back) and you can follow the lead escort car again. Hope this helps

You guys are sticking too close to the lead car, keep like 3 or 4 car lengths in between you and the lead and it will be fine, it's not a race guys.

I did one this morning...was following the lead car. Beacons on. Almost there. Just one narrow bridge, and I swing in the middle to avoid the side of the bridge with the load. Stupid truck going the other way was not stopped by the lead car. Does not even pull over to let me by. Then stops because there is no room for him to go around. As I am trying to squeeze by I get an $1800 fine for an accident. The cop ahead and behind did nothing.

It is a good thing I have a guitar hanging on the back wall of my truck, and not something else or I would had to start playing inmate simulator.

And I play this game to relax.haha

The same thing happened to me recently. On the highway, the escort suddenly stopped and did nothing. I stood behind him for a while and then I wanted to go around him from the right (I couldn't get to the left) and he suddenly started driving and we continued to the parking lot.
After the safety break, the accompanying vehicle did not start again. It started to fade and flicker, so I canceled the order.

What about security?
American police are probably not too worried about road safety.
Today I was driving the house and I was commuting at night and I was wondering why there are no lights on the edges of the smoke? In Europe it is mandatory and they give big fines for it. Flags are good during the day, but at night oncoming cars can't see the edge of a wide load.
I won't even mention weight control. Extremely dangerous when driving in the left lane with only my weight. This means driving to the right across three lanes, a very dangerous maneuver. And a dollar for the litter when the truck in the right lane doesn't go to the scale.
